Naga Dosha
(Astrological significance & Remedies)
Astrologically Naga dosha also known as Sarpa dosha has acquired lot of
significance as it is said to be caused due to Sarpa sapa or curse of the
Serpents. Astrologically several interpretations are given for Naga Dosha.
Placement of Rahu in Lagna, 2nd, 5th, 7th, or 8th house, placement of malefic
planets (Rahu, Kethu, Mars, Saturn and Sun) in three Kendra Sthanas (1, 4, 7,
and 10) said to cause Sarpa dosha in general. Specifically, Sarpa dosha or Naga
dosha is said to be caused due to affliction to the 5th house by,
Placement of Rahu in the 5th house (Puthra Bhava, Poorva Punya Sthana)
particularly aspected by or associated with Mars, or
5th house being a sign of Mars (Aries or Scorpio) and occupied by Rahu or
Karaka for Children, Jupiter in association with Mars and Rahu in the Lagna
and 5th Lord placed in a dusthana (6th, 8th, or 12th house) and Jupiter
being weakly placed in the chart.
Some of the major reasons that are attributed for Sarpa sapa are said and
believed due to the killing of a snake or its off-springs, or its eggs, abusing a
snake (Sarpa dooshana or Sarpa helana), digging or dismantling of a snake bill
etc… either in the current or previous births that gets manifested in the form of
a curse. The implications of Naga dosha are, lack of progeny, loss of progeny,
aberrations and obstacles in marital front, lack of prosperity and progress in life,
chronic ill health, skin diseases, accidents, highly emotional temperament etc…
Suggested remedies
Some of the time tested remedies suggested for Naga Dosha are,
Worship of Nagadevatha can be made even by those who do not have Naga
dosha for their general well being and prosperity. Any remedy can become
effective only when it is performed with full faith, total devotion and sincerity.
Whatever may be the myth and beliefs the experience of people suffering and
results derived from the remedies performed stands as testimony to the
significance of Naga dosha.
