Hi Keven

I would say that having a drinking water source and a

sewage dump area in close proximity to each other is an
extremely bad idea. Just for discussion sake, when I used
to work for the San Diego Environmental Health Department
evaluating the placement of septic systems and water wells,
there were strict setback protocols we had to follow.
Generally, the setback between a well and a leach field was
100 feet, between a well and a septic tank was 50 feet,
between a closed (tightline) sewer line was 50 feet, and an
open sewer manhole was 100 feet. I hope this helps as far
as what safe separation should be. Additionally, I hope the
truck shown in the photo is not used for both drinking water
and sewage pumping/dumping. I dont' know how one would ever
safely disinfect the tank for use with potable water after
it has been contaminated with sewage. I for one, would
never drink any water from a tank I knew once contained
sewage. If the truck is being used for both, this practice
should be discontinued and the truck only used for sewage,
and the mislabeling of "Drink Water" removed from the
truck.

These are just a few thoughts on the subject.

Take care,
Jim
