Read the instructions for using SPSS. You must read this section in order to get an
understanding of using SPSS. Purpose: For your Survey Assignment Projects, you will have to
create your own, original data file based on questionnaires that you will develop. This exercise is
meant to prepare you for that task.
Instructions: Use SPSS to analyze the data on the four questionnaires, on the next page.
1. Transfer the data on the four questionnaires to the dat file that you will submit for
grading.) Remember that the first column is always the case number (id).
2. In the SPSS Data Editor, double-click on the heading (gray area) for the first column or
after single-clicking on the heading for the first column, select Define Variables under
Data Menu. The dialog boxes will allow you to define your variables according to your
Code Book. (read LEARNING SPSS BASICS - for variable type and missing values)
3. After defining the three variables in this exercise, enter the data from the 4 questionnaires.
IN THE OUTPUT WINDOW TYPE YOUR NAME, date, course and section
number.
4. Under the Statistics Menu, run and turn in for grading
a). List Cases Frequencies
b). Crosstab Variable #3 by Variable #2
c). data file (dat file)
d). syntax file (syn file)

TURN IN FOR GRADING SAVE all AS ADOBE PDF files and turn in to get credit for
