SAMUDRIKA LAKSHANAM

This chapter deals with the general observations that are not observed in ordinary
parlance, but carry much importance for an astrologer. All such observations tell a lot
about the person who comes to an astrologer. Basically, when a person comes to you, he
will radiate certain electricity from himself. Would that be favorable for answering his
questions or not, is to be very minutely seen. That is why in older times' astrologers used
to set square on the floor so that whoever comes, that person also sits on the floor and
direct communication is established between the queried and the querist. When you sit
on the floor, a direct communication is established because when you sit down, the
electricity cross from your body and establishes a direct connection to the persons sitting
across you. Samudrika lakshanam is always considered to be one of the prime most
important things for knowing about a person’s nature and his indicative self.

If a person approaching an astrologer enters the house with his right foot forward,
he has good intentions. If he enters the room with the left foot forward, it indicates that
he has a mental imbalance about the person whom he is approaching; he does not believe
in him and has just gone there with the intentions to test if the astrologer can do
something with the horoscope. He does not have full faith in the person whom he is
approaching.

Furthermore, while coming in, a person may touch his body parts. They have
different meanings. If a person touches his head first, he has come to test the astrologer
and he should not be encouraged. If a person touches his cheeks then he is having
extraordinary problems and he wants immediate solution for them. When he comes in
and touches his nose, he is having something that is bothering his pride and he is very
worried about his standing in the society or whatever it is. If a person touches his left
thigh while entering, he is going to have a major loss. If he touches the elbow, he is
going to lose one of his immediate elders. If he enters and moves towards left, it means
he considers you a Guru. If he moves towards right, the person is arrogant, often not tell
what he wants to know and he may not hesitate in lying to you.

A person who is entering may have certain gifts with him. If they are sweets, the
person wants to know about his children or marriage. If it is fruits, he wants to know
about his general prosperity. If it is something else, then he wants to know about his
professional life. How will you decide? Count the number of fruits; if it is 1-5, he has
come to know about self. If it is 6-9, he has come to know about his progeny’s success
and if it is 9-12, then he has come to know about his family welfare or success. If he has
brought two types of fruits, one having seeds in it and another not having seeds, say
pomegranate and banana, you can right away say that he has come to know about his
progeny also. Either he is not having progeny or his progeny is not having prosperity.
Question shall be related to progeny.

Now we come to the appearance of the person. First is hair. If a person is having
black hair, he is considered to be of gentle nature; brownish hairs indicate an always-
doubting nature. Thick hair - well disposed, thin hair - may not be a good person. Now
the forehead. Forehead can be broad or it can be lengthy also. If it is lengthy, a person
is extraordinarily blessed and can have intuitive powers; will always make other person
happy with his extraordinary help. He will always like to help others. With length and
having two ‘V’ on forehead, a person will be extraordinarily good in mathematics,
calculations will be always good. His life will be always on calculated note only. If the
forehead is lengthwise, the power of beeja will be more; progeny will be more. He will
always be worried about impregnating his wife whenever he has sex with her and on that
basis he will always be under tension. The amounts of shortness it has, that much amount
less quality living sperms' one has in his body. This should not be short; the shortness
indicates the weakness in sperms.

Now see the eyebrows. If brows are thick, a person has . If brows do
not have enough of hair in it, the person is calculative; he will not be emotionally moved
by others; may not like to hear others; will always have arrogant nature. The brows
should not also meet with each other. If they meet each other, a person will meet poverty
in his life. Some persons are born with such eyebrows; they will never have that kind of
self-containment. If they are joining, a person will not be trustful to his parents. Eyes;
large eyes indicate a well-disposed person. Small eyes indicate a liar, would always lie to
everybody - a compulsive liar. Broad eyes . Round eyes . Split
eyes; mentally disordered, cyclic influences, psychiatric cases. Eyeballs. Shifting
eyeballs - a person has mental imbalance, indecisive, will have constant worries
regarding progeny. Stable eyeballs - extraordinarily gifted person, will have attachment
towards trinity, a person who can become a seer. Eyes can be of major three colours:
black, brown or honey coloured. Black-eyed person is warmth, trustworthy, indicative of
wealthiness. Brown-eyed person is though warmth, but he can not be trusted, self-
centered. Honey coloured eyed person is untrustworthy; would do anything for selfish
motives - a materialistic personality. Now eyelashes; eyelashes can be of three types -
closed lashes, open lashes & cervical lashes. A person has feminine disposition if his
lashes are cervical. A person having open straight lashes is considered to be
extraordinarily masculine; would be brutal often. Closed lashes' person is calculative;
will not open before others. It is very hard to give prediction to such person. Self esteem
or self-prestige will be always involved with this kind of persons. They will feel insulted
if something awkward is told.

Ears; with ears only, you can give predictions about the person. They indicate of
man’s past, present and future, though we will not go in those kinds of details. Ears can
be lengthy, short, broad or lean. Length of the ear indicates the longevity of the native.
Earlobes should not be attached with cheeks; if it is so, one will always have emotional
ups and downs in his life. The length of your ear should not be less than your middle
finger; if it is so, one will have ‘Akal-Mrityu’. If it does not correspond to your middle
finger, it will definitely correspond to ring finger; if it is not so, one will have ‘poorva
janma dosha’ along with ‘Akal-Mrityu’. The person having broad ear indicates
extraordinary wealth, philanthropic attitude – a person who will be equated to the
elephants. The person having short ears will be calculative, untrustworthy; often would
commit adultery. Lean ears indicate a diseased person; he will often fall prey to seasonal
diseases like viral, etc.
 Nose; nose can be pubes, straight or inclined. Pub nose people are very good in
mathematics but often emotionally very strong; will be very loyal to the house they
belong to. If it is a female, she will be very much attached to her father till she is
married; but shall forget everything about father’s house after marriage. In the
childhood, they must have tasted enough of anxious moments in their life due to their
parental troubles. Straight nose person is philanthropic, long lived, far sighted and will
always be very sensing. Sixth sense will be very prominent with persons who have long
straight nose. Inclined nose; if the nose is right inclined, then the person is a good
sportsman. Valor & vitality will be extraordinarily more with a person who has right
inclined nose. The person having left inclined nose is always financially prudent; will be
habitual of seeing financial benefits of every matter. Distance between the nose & the
upper lip if it is very short, the person is untrustworthy, may remain a bachelor in his
life, may not find a good match for him. Small mustache area; the person will always
have trouble in his marital life. He will never come out of it; often will be misunderstood
and may end being a bachelor only. Broad mustache area; the person is wealthy, witty
character and understanding but would always have doubting nature, suspicious.

Lips; thick lips indicate a poverty-sticken person. Permanency of any

materialistic happiness will not be there. Lean lips - ‘Ajeya’ in sexual matters, would
always give more prominence to sexual activities than other things in his life. Lower lip
bigger than the upper lip; the person will be untrustworthy. Upper lip bigger than the
lower lip, the person will be a loner, will not have much of friends.

Cheeks; broad cheeks' person is happily disposed. Prominent cheekbone, a

person will become world famous; fame is assured to a person who has got a prominent
cheekbone. Squeezed cheeks; the person shall be suffering from incurable diseases, often
related to liver or intestine. Actually when anybody is having problem in cheeks, he has
to propitiate lord Ganesha for curing. Cheeks have direct connection to stomach; when a
person has constipation, he will have some ulcer, pain or tightness on his cheeks.

Teeth if there is gap between first two teeth, the person has definitely tasted
poverty in his life. Uneven teeth; the person is of fighting nature. First two teeth coming
out – the person may not be married in his life or would be always poverty-sticken.

Chin; broad chin person is wealthy and warmth. Short chin person is calculative;
will always form negative opinion about others.
