TI Cycles of India is a part of Tube Investments of India (TII), a flagship company of the Rs.7300
plus crore conglomerates Murugappa Group.

The company which started in 1949 has been at the forefront of innovations and a pioneer in
the market of cycles. TI is the second largest manufacturer of bicycles in India, marketing top
brands like Hercules and BSA.

With a network of 2500 plus dealers and backed by a strategic outsourcing policy, the company
has a nationwide presence. It has 3 fully functioning plants across India at Chennai, Nasik and
Noida and 7 regional offices situated across the country.

The company is a market leader in the value-added special segment, with a 50 percent market
share. TI Cycles is an exporter to many a region across the globe ʹ Europe, South East Asia and

A one-stop premium store for all bicycling and fitness equipment requirements started in the
year 2007 in Thane, Mumbai. BSA Go promotes cycling as a health and lifestyle option to
discerning consumers.

BSA Go stores display a wide range of BSA & Hercules brands of bicycles and BSA Workouts. The
trained store staff can help consumer choose the right bike and right fitness equipments.
Another interesting feature of the stores is that consumer can not only 'touch and feel', but also
'TRY' the bikes of their choice on an in-built test track.

They manage their factory and plants in and around India without any problems from their
workers in the form of strike and all. For eg. There was a strike in the year 1978 after that there
is no such yet, really a good Human Resourcing strategy.
They used to get (frames, body) parts from USA, fabricating in Chennai, India and exporting
them to Italy and France, A Global connection in Production.




With the concept of Cycling and Fitness, they now concentrate in clean and eco-friendly
Environment by involving in the assembly of E-bikes and their sales too.

This is the unique brand started in 2008 from this conglomerate is the market leader in E-bikes
in India.

The capacities of these bikes are 250cc, 500cc and 800cc. These bikes run in batteries, which
gives an efficiency of 60 km per hour for a full charge of 8 hours.

These bikes are sold in large numbers in Delhi. They used to assemble 75 bikes in a day with 8
hours duty.

They have 6 major vendors, from whom they get the spare parts like mudguards and frames
etc.. Then, the cycles are fabricated in automated fabrication system, involving a meager
human power.

The hours we spent in TI cycles made us to learn about the organization structure,
manufacturing process, marketing strategies, and also about functioning of HR department. The
visit is very helpful to our academic and it is so purposeful.
