INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR FISHER PIERCE

SERIES 1548 FAULT INDICATORS

1. Mount sensor coil on the conductor so that the housing shell is approximately perpendicular to the center
line of the adjacent conductors, or Neutral. [“Eyeball accuracy is satisfactory”]. Back down the cable
pin to accept the conductor size and use hotstick to mount the unit. Unit is secure when ratcheting
begins. See Figure 1.1 and 1.2.

2. To simulate trip and reset, use magnetic reset tool (FP# AT2186). Swipe the reset tool across the unit at
the TRIP / RESET label, located at the bottom of the unit.
2.1 To simulate temporary fault indication, use magnetic tool (FP# AT2186). Hold a magnet at the switch
area for three seconds and then remove in order to induce a temporary fault LED demonstration.
NOTE: To trip strobe unit swipe the reset tool across the unit at the TRIP/RESET label. Wait 6 seconds
for the unit to trip.(see fig 2)

3. To replace the battery (not applicable for flag model):


3.1. Remove the two screws from the battery cover.
3.2. Remove the battery by disconnecting the
in-line connector.
3.3. Using the magnetic reset tool, (F/P#
AT2186) Place across the TRIP /
RESET label for 1 minute.
3.4. Remove the magnetic reset tool.
3.5. Connect the new battery.
3.5.1. For strobe unit use F/P# A616
battery.
3.5.2. For LED unit use F/P# A615
battery.
3.6. Manual trip and manual reset the unit FIG. 3: SIDE VIEW

3.7. Realign the battery cover and secure using the original screws. (Tighten to 8 in/lb.)
