Fly Wheels: Turning moment diagram for I.C. Engine, steam Engine and power presses,
speed and energy fluctuation.

Governors: Function of Governor, types of Governors, such as weight loaded, spring loaded,
effort and power of a Governor, controlling force diagrams.

Gyroscopes: Principle of Gyroscope, Gyroscopic couple and its effect on two wheel and four
wheel vehicles and ships.

Balancing: Balancing of rotating parts and primary balancing of reciprocating parts. Primary
and secondary balancing of in line engines, Partial balancing of locomotive
engines and its effect on balancing machines.

Free Vibrations: Free Vibrations of a body with single degree of freedom. Transverse vibrations
of beams with uniform and concentrated loads by Rayleigh’s method.

Torsional Free Vibrations: Two rotor system, three rotor system and geared systems.

Damped Free Vibrations: For systems with under, over and critical damping.

Forced Vibrations: Response of damped spring mass system to a harmonic force, Vibration
isolation and Vibration of mass supported on foundation subject to vibrations,
transmissibility, Principle of Vibrometers and accelerometers.

Whirling of Shafts: With and without damping.
