L.S.

Travelling 2 is a follow up to travelling 1. The goal of both remains learning to

travel.

In this case we want you to learn how to plan a holiday and everything that
comes along with that. For example: the expenses, visiting of a travel agency,
booking, reserving etc. etc.

To obtain this objective we’ve created 10 frames for a possible holiday. Each
frame consists of the following components:

1. Duration of the holiday

2. Location where to go
3. Transport
4. Content of the holiday
5. Costs
6. Background of the country
a. language
b. inhabitants
c. geography
d. history

These components are partly filled in.

You will plan your holiday in groups. The size of the groups should be around
3-4 persons.

Each group or the teacher selects one of the ten frames. The frame is partly
filled in with minimum components that the holiday should contain and the
planning of the holiday should meet the following demands:

1. Use of internet. Used addresses should be noted correctly.

2. Visit a travel agency.
3. Contact tourist office.
4. Use of travel guides.
5. Collect information in a folder (photocopies, brochures etc.)
6. Evaluation.

Besides the introduction of travelling 2 the biggest part of travelling 2 you will
be working on the planning of the holiday. All this work should result in a
presentation with the following components:

1. Timetable: what are you doing, when and where? Written down on
paper in English and given to the teacher and students.
2. List of costs. This should include all your costs. Written down on paper
in English and given to the teacher and students.
3. In front of the class: presentation of your holiday in your own unique
way in your own language.
Examples:
- looking back on the holiday through (made-up) pictures with
commentary
- a (made-up) brochure in which the holiday is presented
- a (made-up) film ‘on location’
- playing a travel agency trying to sell the holiday to ‘customers’
(= the other students)
- etc etc
4. Room for commentary of the whole class and the teacher and sharing
the international criticism on their planning with the class and teacher.
Please make sure that students give their commentary first!
5. Evaluation by the group on travelling 2. They share this evaluation with
the class and teacher.

International contact should take place in the form of:

1. Criticizing timetable and list of costs from other schools in Europe in

English.
2. Send these critics by mail.

Timetable

Week Activity
1 Introduction
2,3,4,5 Actual planning of
the holiday
6 Finalizing
planning and
sending over
timetable and list
of costs to other
schools in other
countries
7-8 Presentations
and evaluation of
the travelling 2
with all the
students

Portfolio

Write an evaluation in English that goes into the portfolio. In this they have to
answer the following questions:

What was positive?

What was negative?
How would describe the cooperation in the group?
What did you learn?
Notes

Work outside of the school can’t be prevented in this project. Especially the
gathering of the information should take place outside of the school.
