Ploiesti

Here We study!
We live in a town named Ploiesti, located in Roumania , Europe. Ploiesti is a
beautiful town, but I wan to say a few word about Roumania before I begin
telling facts about Ploiesti.

Roumania is a country located at the crossroads of Central and

Southeastern Europe, north of the Balkan Peninsula, on the Lower Danube,
within and outside the Carpathian arch, bordering on the Black Sea. Despite of
the fact that Roumania has a bad reputation and is is a controversated , it is a
beautiful country which keep the secret and the mistery of old ages. We have a
lot of elements to be proud of. For example, The Black Sea , the Mountains
and the monasteries. There are a lot of elements that creats a wonderful place
to live in .
Because a picture is better than a thousand words, I have some, made
last year on a trip .
Here I have some pictures of the Peles Castle located near Sinaia. is a Neo-Renaissance
castle placed in an idyllic setting in the Carpathian Mountains, near Sinaia, in Prahova
County, Romania, on an existing medieval route linking Transylvania and Wallachia, built
between 1873 and 1914; its inauguration was held in 1883.
King Carol I of the Romanians (1839–1914), one of the greatest kings
of modern Romania and under whose reign the country gained its
Independence, first visited the site of the future castle in 1866 and he fell
in love with the rugged but magnificent mountain scenery
Sinaia Monastery

The Sinaia Monastery was founded by Prince Mihai Cantacuzino in 1695 and
named after the great Sinai Monastery on Mount Sinai. As of 2005 it is
inhabited by 13 Christian Orthodox monks led by hegumen Macarie Bogus. It
belongs to the archdiocese of Bucharest.
Prahova Valley

Ok, That’s enough, I hope I convinced you to visit Roumania. Now I will
present our town, Ploiesti. Ploieşti) is the county seat of Prahova County and
lies in the historical region of Wallachia, Romania. The city is located 56 km
north of Bucharest.
According to the last Romanian census, from 2002, there were 232,527
people living within the city of Ploieşti, making it the 9th most populous city in
Romania.

History --The town was established in 1596, during the reign of Mihai Viteazul. It
rapidly flourished as a center for trade and handicraft manufacturing in the 17th
and 18th centuries. The road connecting Ploieşti to Brasov was opened in 1864,
and the railway arrived in 1882. Many schools and hospitals were built around this
time.

In the mid-19th century, the Ploieşti region was one of the world's leading oil
extraction and refinery sites. The city is also remembered as the site of the self-
styled Republic of Ploiesti, a short-lived 1870 revolt against the .Romanian
Monarchy.

Let’s imagine that you are tourists and I am your guide. We will go for a walk. We
will visit the town beginning from south to north.
