• As net revolution is gaining momentum and the retail
sector has become an increasingly competitive &
dynamic business environment worldwide. The primary
objective of this report is to study the emergence and
growth of e-retailing.

• We will also study the impact of e-retailing on apparel


industry.

Electronic retailing (e-retailing)
popularly known as e-tailing refers
to selling of retail goods
electronically over the internet and
other media forms. It usually refers
to Business –to-Consumer (B2C)
transactions and is the largest
market activity in the rapidly
growing field of electronic
commerce.

• 1979: Micheal Aldrich invented online shopping

• 1990, Tim Berners-Lee invented the Worldwideweb


browser

• 1994 when the first internet online shopping started.

• Pizza Hut offers online ordering on its Web page

• 1995: Jeff Bezos launches Amazon.com and the first


commercial-free 24 hour, internet-only radio stations

• eBay is founded by computer programmer Pierre
