THEORETICAL FRAME WORK

Speaking

10/06/10
1.Speaking is an interactive process of
constructing meaning that involves producing
and receiving and processing information
2.Speaking is an activity used by someone to
communicate with other. It takes place very
where and has become part of our daily
activities.
3.One of important aspects in speaking is there
is a communication or interacting between the
speaker and listener
THERE ARE THREE FACTORS WHEN THE
SPEAKER MAKE COMMUNICATIONS,
THERE ARE:

10/06/10
 Clarity
It means that the words that the speakers
use, must be clear, so that listeners can
understand what the speaker says.
 Variety
Here the speakers must try to vary way of
speaking such as pitch (rise and fall of
voice), emphasis, speed, variation, volume
and pause.
 Audience and Tone
The way you speak and the tone you use
will be affected by audience to whom you
are speaking.
AUDIO LINGUAL METHOD
The Audio Lingual Method was developed in the
United States during the World War II.

1. Based on learning process as it is by

change people emotional and behavioral
responses.
2. The concept of habit formation of
behaviourism is the basis of Audio Lingual
Method
3. Audio Lingual Methodology owed its
existence to the Behaviorist models of
learning that were using the stimulus-
response-reinforment model, it attempted,

THE PRINCIPLE OF AUDIOLINGUAL
IN LEARNING

10/06/10
 Foreignlanguage learning is basically a
process of mechanical habit formation.
 Spoken form before they are seen in written
form.
 Analogy provide better than analysis
A linguistic and cultural context and not in
isolation.
CLASSROOM ACTION RESEARCH

10/06/10
 Action research can be described as: any research into
practice undertaken by those involved in that practice,
with an aim to change and improve it. It is therefore, a
process of enquiry by you as a practitioner into the
effectiveness of your own teaching and your
students’learning.
 Action research involves practitioners in studying their
own professional practice and framing their own
questions. Their research has the immediate goal to
assess, develop or improve their practice. Such
research activities belong in the daily process of good
teaching, to what has been called the 'zone of accepted
practice
RESEARCH METODOLOGY
A. Purpose of Study

10/06/10
The purpose of research is to improve students
speaking skill by using Audiolingual Method to active
in practicing English speaking in class
B. Subject and Place of The Research
The subject are the eighth grade of 25 students
SMP Al-Hasaniyah Jelupang North Serpong South
Tangerang to active in practicing English
C. Method of the Research

paradigm with classroom action research. The
research connected in three cycles
Cycle 1 :

they didn’t know how to pronounce the words.
2.They were motivated by the researcher that they
had to pronounce and intonation correctly because
if they were wrong in pronunciation they will get the
wrong meaning of the conversation
3.The students had not fun felling because the class
condition is not conducive.
4.They couldn’t equip in the correct sentence.

a will to the students to overcome their

problems in pronunciation and speaking
skill.
 Few students showed increasing their

speaking and they could make simple

dialogue with their partner

 The competition was held among the groups
 Then the students were more interested when did the
conversation with their group.
 They were still to improve their speaking ability to be
more successful and more confident.

10/06/10
Analysis
There was increasing the average score from cycle 1
the average is 6.65, cycle 2 the average is 7.25 and
cycle 3 the average is 7.7- the researcher took their
score from student conversations with their pair work
and group that they have done.

And make the atmosphere of the class being conducive. Repetition drill and
chain drill is more effective for speaking activities. There was little
increasing in their pronunciation from the dialogue. As far the tasks were
given individually. In the cycle two the researcher find there was a will to
