Section I: Writing

In this section of my portfolio, I demonstrate different writing styles I have accumulated throughout my
studies at Shippensburg. There are five pieces of different writing styles:
1. Golden
Written in 2007 for a Fiction Writing Seminar; aired on 88.7 WSYC Radio
This short fiction piece is about a city-dwelling homeless man and his interactions withdifferent
socioeconomic groups in the city.
2. Slave Harvest
Written in 2008; presented at Kutztown University's 9th Annual Undergraduate Research Conference
This essay discusses the ethical and moral dilemma of cloning human parts. Since it hasbeen scientifically
possible to grow human livers since 2006, the issue's relevancy is slowly rising.
3. Evangelists stir up debate on campus
Written in 2010 for The Slate, Shippensburg University's student-run campus newspaper; appeared as the
feature article on the front page above the fold
This article was written about abrasive and vulgar Baptist ministers that came to campusand were yelling
at students. The main point contrasts their condemning students once a year to the work of the campus
ministers that hang out with students every day.
4. Copyright Infringement Editorial Series
Written in 2010 for a Communication Law class project
As a culmination of editorials for a class project, this project contains four stories written as editorials for
a newspaper outlining four main points:
o Is technology killing copyrights?
o What are leeches and seeds online?
o Does piracy hurt the music industry?
o Issues with copyright laws.
5. Sweet Tea
Written in 2008 for a Fiction Writing Class.
This story is a comical narration of why ministers don't go to bars.
