SELECTION TOOLS

You will be given four Photoshop files with various elements. Utilizing most of the pieces, you will
construct a face and upper body using the tools you will be taught in class. The final Photoshop
file should be saved as a Photoshop TIF, 8.5”x11” at 72dpi. Include all layers.

You will learn:


Basics of creating a new page, setting guides, etc.
How to use the Marquee tool
How to use the Move tool
How to use the Lasso tool
How to use the Magic Wand tool
How to use the Pen tool for selections
How to use Paths
How to set tolerances
How to rotate and duplicate images
How to construct an image from multiple elements

You will turn in:


One (1) Photoshop TIF file, named PS#1, in a folder
With your name and PS#1. This is due at the beginning
of class, 10-27.

Grading Criteria:
You will be graded on how you use the tools learned today, including how well
objects are clipped out, positioned, page size, resolution.

MATERIALS TO BRING TO NEXT CLASS

It will be a Photoshop scanning exercise, so you will need to bring 3 examples of


each of the following types of images. 4x6 images are fine. These have to be printouts,
magazine images, etc. They CAN NOT be digital files.

3-Line art images (bitmap)


3-Black and White images
3-Color images
