Wonderful Human Being
Stephen Miller was 13 years old when Transverse Myelytis was diagnosed. He spent months in
and out of hospitals and undergoing intense physical and occupational therapy including a 3 ¥%
month stint at Ohio State University’s physical rehab hospital, Dodd Hall. He lived his life not
knowing or meeting any other person with TM until this past year. He offers a unique perspec-
tive of growing up with a disability and how it has shaped him as an individual.
The youngest of five children, he grew up in the hills of the small southern Ohio town of Wheel-
ersburg with his father, mother, brother, three sisters, dog Bamey and parakeet Stinky. His hob-
bies include the outdoors, fine art, architecture, amateur boxing, general aviation and antique
tractors.

ing design with a firm in Springfield, Ohi~
Devoted to his family and enjoying life, Stephen resides in Jamestown, Ohio with his wife of
eight years, Michelle, six-year-old daughter, Katherine, and cat, Bella. Together they take it one
step at a time.
