Audience analysis

Who?
1. Who is your audience? Develop a profile of your learners—ages, genders,
backgrounds, experiences, attitudes, etc. Do you want to include or attract an
audience wider than your typical profile? If so, revise your profile to be more
inclusive.

The audiences will be the new students or the users of the USM Engineering
Library.

Profile of the audience :


Age : 18 to no limit
Genders : Male and Female
Backgrounds : The users must able to use computer and the English medium
backgrounds is most recommended

2. What can you assume as background? What limitations or attitudes might


some of your audience have that need to be overcome?

Any background of the audience is accepted if they are able to use computer
and the English medium background is most recommended. The project
material will be in form of CD-ROM. The CD-ROM is applicable to the audience
who need the information to use the USM Engineering Library services.

3. What unit or chapter’s worth of material do you want to explain?


The topic will be limit to the information on the USM Engineering Campus and
the USM Engineering Library. More contents will be on the background of the
USM Engineering Library, facilities and services. The training on the system will
be on the video element.

4. What are the major topics of your unit or chapter? Itemize them. Write an
outline of topic and salient sub-topics. (This part will require detailed analysis.
It’s a bit easier if you can work from existing material, such as a chapter of a
textbook or teacher’s lesson plans.)

The major topics are about the USM Engineering Library. The outline will be

5. What are the key concepts/skills of your chapter that you would like the
learner to master? What is the desired performance level for learning these
concepts/skills?

The presentation will be on English Medium. The users with the English
medium background will have no problem to understand the presentation.

6. What are the current sources/methods/practices by which students learn


these concepts/skills?(Look at materials currently in use; ask your subject
matter teacher about techniques in use.)
Currently, the presentation is conduct using Microsoft Power Point by the
person in charge. However the material is changing every year depend on the
person in charge. The audience also will be boring because the explanation is
too informative and no element of attractions.

7. What are the results of these practices? How can these practices be
improved by multimedia?

By using the current sources, all the students can’t achieve the goals and
objective targeted. It can be analyze on the number of audience ask the
questions about the process to get the library material during the visit to the
library. The multimedia element will inject the element of sound effect, video,
animation, text and etc. The entire element can help to attract the audience.

8. What areas of difficulty are students having? How could multimedia tools
help?

The USM Engineering Library serves many facilities and services. Audiences
have difficulties in the use of the system to get the material needed. With the
element of video, it shows steps by steps of the process and in the form of CD-
ROM the audience can keep the information safely.

11. Where will your module be deployed? Via CD-ROM or via the Web or both?
These resources will be deployed via CD-ROM

12. Who is the subject matter teacher for your content? How will he/she work
with your team?

The instructor will be the officer in charge to give the talk. Since the
development of the multimedia project will be in house so the discussion can be
carried out easily.

13. Who will work on your project? What roles will each project member have?

This project will be carried out personally.

14. What hardware and software resources will you need? What do you already
have?

The hardware and software which be involved are :


Operating system : Windows XP
Hardware : Minimum 40 GB disk drive (more is recommended)
Minimum 32 MB RAM memory and speed
Pentium or higher
Software : SwishMax build2004 and Camstudio 2.0

15. Schedule: when do you expect to complete a design, a prototype, and a


testable program?
