Allusions Assignment

Just like during the first quarter, you are going to create a document that can be used to
explain the stories assigned. Because these are familiar to many people, consider part of the
assignment practice with (1) parenthetical citations, and (2) MLA Works Cited pages. It is super
easy to do parenthetical citations, but UBER-IMPORTANT that you are attentive to them. You
MUST check yourself BEFORE you submit your summaries. Use
http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/557/01/ as a reference. It is the address to the Online
Writing Lab from the University of Purdue. I will put this in huge type so you can see it:
If you do not have an adequate source for the material
you submit, (1) you are claiming it as your own, that is
plagiarism; and (2) you will fail the assignment. This
is even if you know the story by heart.
The summaries need not be long. They can be a well-developed paragraph. Focus on the names
and places mentioned in the original story. A short test will follow the second week.
