I am J.E. “Chip” Harding, Sheriff of Albemarle County. My office is concerned for your
welfare and that of your family. We would like to assist you in understanding the eviction
process. If you need explanation please phone our office at 972-4001 and a deputy will
answer your questions.

There are a number of organizations in our community that might be able to help you.

There are several agencies that can offer you free financial counseling. Some may be able to
provide financial assistance in the short term to help you through this difficult time. You
can call Love, INC at 977-7777 MACCA- CARES at 295-3171 ext.4 and the Salvation
Army at 295-4058. Piedmont Housing Alliance at 817-2436 has counselors specialized to
assist you in avoiding foreclosure.

If you have children living with you and future housing may be an issue call the Albemarle
County Department of Social Services at 972-4010 and the Salvation Army at 295-4058.
