Outstanding exam results from The Jaffery Academy Mombasa

COASTWEEK - - Jaffery students have maintained the trend of outstanding academic


performance in the GCE 'A', 'AS' and 'O' level examinations held in May/June 2002.

The school presented 32 candidates for 'A' level examination, out of which 7
obtained an A grade in every subject offered.

Outstanding results were also achieved by other students which translated into a
commendable score of 74 per cent from grades A to C - well above the Edexcel A
level average.

With such excellent results, most of the students have already secured places in
reputable universities in the U.K., Canada, USA and other parts of the world.

The 'AS' level results were equally impressive.

Out of a total of 28 candidates, five secured 3 As and above - an A in all the


subjects offered.

Outstanding results were also achieved by other students - making the school
obtain an impressive score of 87 per cent from grades A to C.

Results included - Gulamali Alibhai five As, Amrish Patel four As, Hashim Rashid
four As, Aunali Khaku four As, Zaheer Bhalloo three As, Alimohamd Noorani three
As, Samira Said three As and one B, Sabira Valli three As and one B, Hasnain
Khalfan four As, Aishabanu Noorani four As, Faizan Kasmani four As, Mohadissa
Visram three As, Sibtain Mohamedraza three As, two Bs, Imran Vagoo three As and
one B, Anisa Baradia three As.

The 'O' level results were also highly commendable.

The school presented 45 students for the 'O' level examination out of which 13
secured 5 As and above.

This meant that an impressive 84 per cent of the grades were from A to C - a very
high percentage indeed !

Results included - Zahoor Khandwalla ten As, Mohamed Sharafali nine As, Khadija
Maawy nine As, Hassanali Kassam eight As, Riyaz Nazerali eight As, Mercy Bruba
eight As and one B, Mubeen Bakrani seven As and one B, Tanvir Panju seven As and
one B, Shafiq Taqi six As and two Bs, Khadija Samani six As and one B, Mohamed
Dada five As and three Bs, Husein Fazel five As and two Bs, Mohadissa Valli five
As, one B and one C.

The Headmistress, Mrs. E. Gomes was very pleased with the results.

She attributed this outstanding performance to the hard work by the students, the
extra effort put in by the teachers even during the school vacations, the
cooperation of the parents and the support of the Khoja Shia Ithna-Asheri
Education Board.

The Academy will be holding its annual Graduation cum Prize Giving Day on Saturday
14th September.

Jaffery Academy is also priviledged to be the Edexcel Centre in Mombasa for inset
training in various subjects at GCE 'O' and 'A' level.

Recently, an Inset training programme was conducted for GCSE subjects.

The subjects included English, Maths, ICT, Science and Business Studies/
Economics.

The Edexcel Trainers were highly impressed with the arrangements made for the
programme.
