Forgiveness

By: Chrissonna Flint

For those who forced me to wear a yellow star.

I forgive you.
For those who forced my family to live in 2 of the
estimated 1000 ghettos that were established.
I forgive you.
For those who caused my family to go hungry.
I forgive you.
For those who separated my family.
I forgive you.
For those who sent my mother and youngest sister
to the gas chamber.
I forgive you.
For those who tattooed A-7713 on my left arm.
I forgive you.
For those who moved my father and I from one camp to another.
I forgive you.
For those who forced my father and I to work tirelessly
in different camps.
I forgive you.
For those who tortured me as well as my father.
I forgive you.
For those who executed people in front of me.
I forgive you.
For those who sat around and watched my father die
from starvation and dysentery.
I forgive you.
For those who caused me to question God.
I forgive you too.
For you see, if I forgive you,
my heavenly father will surely forgive me.
