Confirmation Sponsor

Dear _____________________________. You have been asked to be a Confirmation sponsor for a candidate from St. Luke Catholic Church. Being a sponsor is both an honor and a responsibility. Your primary responsibility will be to be present on the day of Confirmation, as you stand with the candidate to be confirmed. Your relationship with the candidate is personal and you may define your relationship in any way you wish. We offer the following suggestions in your role as a sponsor: Invite your candidate for a meal Establish regular communication with the candidate during their year of preparation. Share your faith and what means to you via phone calls, letters etc Attend a Confirmation class or retreat with the candidate. Attend Mass together. Pray for your candidate. Maintain a faith based relationship with the candidate after Confirmation. You will be asked to provide a sponsor form indicating that you are a practicing Catholic in good standing with a church. This form will be due before December 1, 2009.
