INTRODUCTION

Cagayan State University - College of Information Technology

Computer Aided Examination System of Lyceum of Appari 6

We had noticed the enhancement of technologies around the world. Thus, the

development of technologies is not acquired without also the existence of the ability of

mankind to perform specific task. It is hard what the future will bring; however,

examining the trends in technology today can provide the vision of what might lie ahead.

Since young people are the future, it is important that they understand and know how to

use the many technologies that will be available. It is equally important that students

understand the impact and effect of technology; both good and bad.

Computerization has now become one of the best solutions to office procedure problems

because of its capabilities and it allows processing of large amount of data. It speeds up

processing of data, hence, much time and effort in doing the work is minimized.

Computerization is the controlling, Processing, Storing data and/or Information by means

of a computer, Task that are capable of being equipped with or automated by

computers.

In order to study the ways and means of improving the present system being used, the

researchers came up with the idea of designing a computerized system that will serve a

number of specific purposes in an organization called Computer Aided Examination

(CAE), a system in which the researchers conducted it to provide an adequate System

investigation and Analysis. The researchers also hope to help the school to come up with

more accurate system to be used in minimizing the teacher’s time and effort in

preparing and administering an examination.

The proposed system is being developed in order to attain a quality standard and

procedure the desire output. To be able to know whether the present manual system can

be improve through computerization. To develop a computer system that would

eliminate the manual processing of information with unparallel efficiency and accuracy of

information.

Cagayan State University - College of Information Technology

Computer Aided Examination System of Lyceum of Appari 7

CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK

The flow of the proposed system contains password, which is being used as a

security of the system. The teacher must need to have his/her own password, before the

students will take the exam. In our proposed system we have the Client Server. In the

server he/she can freeze all units when the exam is times up. Browse is being used in

exploring the records of the students; Exit is being used in closing the program or the

system itself. And print when needed. In the user they will just take the exam in

Computer Aided Examination. The result of the exam will direct to the server’s computer.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

1. What are the concerns of teachers in the present manual system in preparing and
administering an examination?
2. What are the technical difficulties of the end – users?

Cagayan State University - College of Information Technology

Computer Aided Examination System of Lyceum of Appari 8

3. What is the level of effectiveness of the computer aided examination to the end
users?

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

To the Administration

It will be a great help to administration in way that the cost of the preparation of

the examination will be lessen.

To the Teachers

It will be a great help to the teachers in delivering an examination and for them to

lessen their time and effort in preparing and checking the exam.

To the Students

It will also help the students in taking the examination easily rather than the

exam manually or hand written exam.

To the Researchers

The researchers hope to gain more knowledge and develop their skills in

programming.

SCOPE AND DELIMITATION OF THE STUDY

This project is to implement computer aided examination (CAE) for high school

students only. Though the teaching methodologies are studied, it is not the intention of

the researchers to analyze the efficacy of the present curriculum. The scope of the

project, are the following:

A. Cant input Subscripts

B. Cant input shapes

C. Cant input exponential Mathematical operations

The core of the project is to create an integrated computer aided examination system for

high school students. The types of examination that would be given up during

examinations are Multiple Choice, Modified True or False and Identification.

OBJECTIVES

1. To provide computer aided examination for high students.

2. To identify the level of effectiveness of the system design.

3. To be of help to schools in the computerization program set by the

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES

Cagayan State University - College of Information Technology

Computer Aided Examination System of Lyceum of Appari 11

RELATED LITERATURE:

Computer Aided Examination or CAE is a developed software program design to

administer the examinations. It facilitates the systematic storage, updating and retrieval

of pertinent examinee data as well as checking and scoring of examinee answers to test

questions from computerized software. It is also generate reports of ratings and static of

pass and fail test scores.

It is stated that several advantages of these system is to save time and effort of

the teachers in making up an exams. It can also reduce cheating through computer

testing and make students acquire information (IT) skills.

The CAE system, a tool for test administration, replaces paper and pencil types of

examination enabling speedy checking and scoring of examinee answer data on different

levels or types of examination. The system provides the advantage of generating test

results of their examinees within a minute which the developer had provided to for the

students of finishing their examination at the same time maintaining statistics of scores

and other pertinent information in a data bank.

The CAE system does not measure the examinees ability in the operation of the

computer. The examinees score will depend entirely on his/her performance in the exam.

Most CAE test use objectives test questions, with answer being selected from or

compared to limited set of pre-defined unequivocally correct responses to a question.

While objectives are used largely to test the knowledge and comprehension of the

students, with careful design, they can also access higher learning outcomes such as the

application of knowledge and analytical skills.
