Dear America:

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and born 82 years ago to Martin Luther King, Sr. and Alberta
Williams King … Dr King was a clergyman and advocate for civil and spiritual rights…
He led the 1955 Montgomery Bus Boycott and helped found the Southern Christian
Leadership Conference in 1957, where he was the first established president…

Dr King lead many historic, peaceful and successful speeches including his ‘March on
Washington’ in 1963 where he delivered one of the most profound speeches of all time…
“I Have a Dream”, from which the cutlture and foundations of America would forever be
shaken…

The year of our Lord, 1964, Dr .King became the youngest persons to be awarded the
Nobel Peace Prize for this relentless efforts to end racial discrimination and segregation
through means of nonviolence… Dr King understood the power of words and his faith in
GOD was parallel to the greatest men, paving the paths toward liberation, civic and
personal freedoms…

Dr King’s life was taken on April 4, 1968, in Memphis, Tennessee… Upon his death, the
spread of his words forever remained in the hearts of all man-kind… As a rock thrown
into a pond, the effects of his works would continue to reverberate through the halls of
schools, universities and the United States Federal Government for years to come…

“And I've looked over. And I've seen the Promised Land. I may not get there with you.
But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people, will get to the Promised Land…”

As with many great men, the greatest achevements of Dr King surfaced after his death…
In 1977 he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom and in 2004 the
Congressional Gold Medal… To finalize his momentous achievements ‘Dr. Martin
Luther King, Jr Day’ was established in 1986 …

“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will
not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character…”

As we celebrate this day, January 17, 2011, let us put our differences aside and honor the
life of Dr. King… Celebrate his service to America and the Lord our GOD…
Remembering a person is measured by their deeds, intentions and actions, not by race,
color or creed… To his friends and family, remember the words of Christ…

“In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to
prepare a place for you…”
