GIVING INSTRUCTIONS

Giving Instruction is an expression that is used in order that


other person does what we instruct or request.

Part of giving instructions


 A. COMMAND (Positives)
 B. PROHIBITIONS (negatives)

COMMAND
Command is a phrase that is used to giving orders to
someone.
a) Verb + Object
EXAMPLE :
Close the door!
Open your book!
Open the window!
Move the chair!

POLITE COMMAND
b) Please + V erb I+ Object
Example :
Please, sit down
Please, clean the blackboard
Please, Don’t disturb me
Please, come here

c) Verb I+ Object + Please


Example:
Stand up, Please
Sweep the floor, Please
Take my jacket, Please

PROHIBITIONS

Prohibition is a sentences are used to prohibit a person in


order not to conduct such activities.
a) Don’t + Verb + Object
Example :
Don’t be late
Don’t be cruel
Don’t touch me

POLITE PROHIBITIONS

b) Don’t + Verb + Object + Please


Example :
Don’t be noise, Please
Don’t go, Please
Don’t throw my pencil, Please
Don’t turn off the computer , Please

If you do not use a verb as a commanding word, you


use:
a) Be + adjective
Example:
Be yourself...!!!!
Be a good student...!!!
Be strong.....!!!!
Be happy...!!!!
Notes :
1. Use to make the instruction more explicit.
2. Use word please to make the instruction more polite.
