VILLAGE PRIDE PARTY CALLS ON MEAGHER TO APOLOGIZE FOR NAZI

CLAIM

East Rockaway Village Pride Party President Ed Zangrillo is calling on Deputy Mayor
Dr. Richard Meagher, Freedom Party Mayoral candidate in the March 15th village
election, to apologize to his opponent, Fran Lenahan, and the voters of East Rockaway
for comparing Lenahan to Joseph Goebbels and Adolph Hitler in a recent political
mailing.

“It’s disgusting. Richard Meagher has swooped to a new low in gutter politics,” Zangrillo
noted. “To compare your opponent to two of history’s worst genocidal maniacs stretches
the boundary of what is acceptable in even the most heated political campaign.”

In a letter to Meagher, Zangrillo challenged the Deputy Mayor: “Didn’t you learn from
the tragic shootings in Arizona earlier this year? Is this the kind of vile rhetoric that you
think belongs in a political campaign? Rather than civil discourse highlighting where
you think your opponent is wrong and you are right you compare your opponent to
Hitler? Is that what you think we should be teaching the children of our community?”

Zangrillo has also alerted Freedom Party President William Kienke that the Pride Party
candidates, Fran Lenahan for Mayor, and Stanley Lombardo and Ed Corrado for
Trustees, will not consider participating in a debate or forum in which Dr. Meagher is
present unless he first publicly apologizes to Fran Lenahan, his family, and the people of
East Rockaway for injecting references to Nazism, such as "The Big Lie," into this
campaign.

“East Rockaway is a beautiful, small village where most people know each other, and
neighbors are always ready to help neighbors on matters great and small. This kind of
disgusting gutter politics – comparing your opponent to two notorious Nazis – has no
place in any political campaign, and most particularly in a small friendly place like East
Rockaway,” Zangrillo continued.

“Voters have to wonder why Dr. Meagher is so desperate to be Mayor that he would risk
besmirching his reputation and legacy with this vile statement," concluded Zangrillo.
