History
 In 1981, N R Narayana Murthy and six others Nandan Nilekani, N. S.
Raghavan, Kris Gopalakrishnan,S. D. Shibulal, K. Dinesh and Ashok Arora
started the Infosys.

 In 1982, Infosys opened an office in Bangalore which soon became its


headquarters.

 Infosys got it first client -- Data Basics Corporation from the US.

His first position was aat IIM Ahmedabad as chief
system programmer.
He hoined PATNI computer systems,pune.
Murty met wife Sudha Murty was an engineer working
in TELCo.(Tata Motors)
They have two kids- Rohan & Akshata.

SUDHA MURTHY
Padma Shri Sudha Kulkarni Murthy (born in Karnataka,
India in 1950) is an Indian social worker and accomplished
author.

Sudha Murthy did B.E. in Electrical Engineering from the


B.V.B. College of Engineering & Technology, Hubli.

Sudha Murthy was also the first woman engineer to be selected


in Telco (now Tata Motors), Pune.

On November 19th 2004, she was presented with the Raja-
Lakshmi Award "in recognition of her outstanding contribution
to social work" by the Sri Raja-Lakshmi Foundation, Chennai.

• Sudha Murthy is a philanthropher who is working for Infosys


Foundation.
Nandan Nilekani
 Nandan Nilekani (born June 2, 1955) is
an Indian entrepreneur and businessman.

 He studied at Bishop Cotton Boys School


Bangalore, and then at St. Joseph's High
School Dharwad, and later into IIT,
Bombay where he graduated with a
B.Tech in Electrical Engineering in 1978.

 Nilekani served as CEO and MD of the


company from March 2002 to April 2007.

 He has an estimated net worth of the


Indian rupee equivalent of US$1.3 billion.
S.Gopalakrishnan(a.k.a.kris)
 He is an Indian industrialist, software
engineer and one of the 7 founders of
Infosys Technologies.

 Kris obtained M.Sc. (Physics) in 1977 and


M. Tech. (Computer Science) in 1979 both
from IIT, Madras.

 During 1987-1994 he headed the


technical operations of KSA/Infosys as a
vice president.

 He is current CEO of Infosys and the


Chairman of the Indian Institute of
Information Technology and
Management (IIITM), Kerala.
Controversy
• 18 October 1999: Reka Maximovitch joins Infosys as Phaneesh
Murthy’s assistant

• December 2000: Reka Maximovitch quits Infosys

• January-June 2001: Reka takes out two restraining orders


against Phaneesh; of which she alleges at least one was violated

• 17 December 2001: Reka files a case against Phaneesh Murthy


and Infosys for "sexual harassment and wrongful termination"

January 2002: Phaneesh warns Nilekani of the possibility of a
sexual harassment case against him and the organization. Says
he is innocent and the company is not at risk.

23 July 2002: Phaneesh quits.

25 April 2003: Case settled out of court for $3 mn, payable in

In the year 1999 Infosys was among the 20 biggest companies
by market capitalization on the Nasdaq well ahead of Adobe
Systems, Novell and Lycos.

In the year 2000, President of the United States Bill Clinton
complimented India on its achievements in high technology
areas citing the example of Infosys.

In 2001, it was rated Best Employer in India by Business Today

2002 by Hewitt Associates.

Infosys won the Global MAKE (Most Admired Knowledge


Enterprises) award, for the years 2003, 2004 and 2005, being the
only Indian company to win this award .

In 2007, Infosys received over 1.3 million applications and hired
fewer than 3% of applicants.

Tata accounted for nearly 80% of the [H-1B] visa petitions
approved in 2007 for the top 10 participants in the program.

In April 2009, Forbes rated Infosys among the 5 best
