Acrostic Poetry

Acrostic poetry is a series of descriptive words or lines in which the first letter of each
line is part of a different word (the subject of the poem). Each line should describe the
subject of your poem. For example:

Passionate
Ostracizing
Engaging
Transcendental
Rigorous
Youthful

For this assignment you will create your own version of an acrostic poem about a subject
of your choosing. Your objective is to use the most interesting and descriptive words you
can find – engage your ‘readers’ in your subject.

The format of your project is up to you. Your poem may be two dimensional, 3-
dimensional, or completed via multimedia tool (powerpoint, video). You may also use a
format of your own devising, as long as you clear it with me first. You will have 3 full
class periods to work on this assignment, but depending on the nature of your choice, you
will need to complete some at home.
