ASSIGNMENT QUESTION

GENERAL GUIDE

1. Students are required to be in a group of SIX - EIGHT and submit their peer
evaluvation form.

2. Students must obtain specific approval for your topic (product /services specification)
from the instructor before beginning!

3. Answers are to be typed on one side of answer sheets only, using Times New Roman font
size 12, with a 1.5 spacing.

4. References in APA style must be included and taken from reliable sources such as books
or journals.

5. Maximum pages, including graphs: 15. Students must footnote sources and must not
copy and paste information from the internet. If you use internet sources, either put those sources
in quotations or put those sources INTO YOUR OWN WORDS. Plagiarism, copying and
cheating will NOT be awarded any mark, and disciplinary actions will be taken instead.

6. Submit your assignment in stapled form. List out all the group members correctly.

7. The assignment has to be submitted on week 9, Monday 14th March 2011 before
5.00pm.

8. This assignment contributes 15 percent of the total marks for the course.
9. Any enquiries should be directed to your respective lecturers either during
lecture/tutorial or via emails.

Questions
Questions are to be answered based on the specific guidelines below:

Part 1

Compare price of the same product/service in at least 10 different places. It can be within
the living area or out of the living area (including via internet) of the students. It can be
normal products/ services or luxury product/ services. (10 marks)

Part 2

Design in tabular form where do you found the product and the price (e.g.: date, place,
shop name, address and contact number of the firm). (5 marks)

Part 3

Here describe the basic findings: Price is same or different. (10 marks)

Part 4

Here use economic analysis (Lecture/ textbook/internet) as to why answers in part 3 is the
way it is. Recommended analysis is based on competition factors such as perfect versus
imperfect competition, and demand and supply theory. Student may also Google searches
on recommended analysis. (10 marks)

Part 5

Here include you conclusion and your opinion as to whether the assignment was useful or
not. Please include here a discussion of expectations about economics were fulfilled or
not by your empirical discoveries in this research. (15 marks)
