It is acknowledged by the Board of Trustees of Minidoka County Joint School District #331 that
circumstances warrant the following guidelines for principals and the Special Education
Director.

PRINCIPALS

1. All resource and special education teachers will be given equal consideration for their
classroom needs. Special education programs are to be included in the adoption process.

2. Special education teachers will need to schedule MDT and CST meetings with the
principal or designee included.

3. The law requires principals or designee to attend the above mentioned meetings.

4. The principals have the following options concerning their budget. (Options: The choice
will be based upon special education teacher preference.)

a. Submit a budget for their special education teachers to the Director of the Special
Education Department by October 15 of each year showing an allocation of at
least 6% of their supply money for special education program and needs.

b. Or include the 6% in their regular allocations for all teachers with the stipulation
that the resource or special education teachers receive equal treatment according
to their needs.

5. The recommendation of special education teachers shall be the responsibility of the


principal.

6. The principal will evaluate the special education teachers.

7. When a principal begins the process to hire a special education teacher, the director my
be used as a resource to assist in the selection;

8. The principal will make the recommendations to the school board for hire or rehiring.

SPECIAL EDUCATION DIRECTOR

1. The director will monitor the student forms for uniformity that the special education
teachers use.

2. The director shall provide training and direction on curriculum, laws and regulations.

3. It is the director’s responsibility to provide the training to building administrator for


individual behavioral management teams.

4. The director shall make contact with the special education teachers on a regular basis.
Contact will be made at least three (3) times a year. The Director of Special Education
will also provide collegial training.
