Microprocessor
Your system supports up to two Intel® Xeon™ microprocessors with a front side bus speed
of 533 MHz, an internal speed of at least 2.0 GHz, and at least 512-KB cache.

Installing a Broadcom Modem Card

If you install a Broadcom BCM V.92 56K modem card in your system, your must install the modem
card in a 64-bit PCI/PCI-X expansion slot (slots 1 through 4). If the modem is installed in a 32-bit
PCI expansion slot (slots 5 and 6), the modem driver and system I/O processes that access the
expansion slot may conflict with each other during startup, causing the system to hang and display
the following error message:
*** Hardware Malfunction
Call your hardware vendor for support
NMI: Parity Check / Memory Parity Error
*** The system has halted ***

The following configuration restrictions currently apply to the DRAC III/XT:

• The DRAC III/XT is not supported on systems with IDE hard drives.
• The DRAC III/XT NIC supports autonegotiation at 10 Base-T (10 megabits per second
[Mbps]) or 100 Base-T (100 Mbps) LAN speeds in half-duplex mode only. The LAN Speed
Setting option always shows that autonegotiation is in effect.

System Memory
If you add additional memory, install memory modules in decreasing order of size, starting with
the connector closest to the edge of the system board and leaving no open connectors between
installed memory modules. See "Installing System Options" in your Installation and
Troubleshooting Guide for more information on adding additional memory.

Red Hat Linux Operating System

SCSI Controller "SCSI Error Report"
Certain SCSI device-related situations may cause your system’s integrated SCSI controller to
display a "SCSI Error Report" when a "good status" is not returned by the device in response to a
SCSI command from the controller. For example, ejecting a tape from a tape drive may generate
a SCSI error report because the contents of the tape drive changed since the controller last
communicated with the tape drive. These SCSI error reports do not indicate a problem with the
system, and do not require a response. In the event of an actual problem with the SCSI device,
the operating system will issue an error message.

Windows Operating System

If your system includes optional hot-plug SCSI hard drives and you choose to reinstall the
Windows 2000 Server, Advanced Server, or SBS operating system without using the Dell
OpenManage Server Assistant CD supplied with your system, a yellow "exclamation point" warning
icon may appear next to the SDR GEM318P SCSI Processor Device entry in Device Manager.
The presence of this icon does not affect the functionality of the SCSI device. To prevent the
appearance of this icon, download the GEM318P device driver from the Dell Support website
at support.dell.com.
CERC RAID Controller

To enable the CERC RAID controller’s automatic drive rebuild feature, you must designate one or
more hard drives as a hot spare when configuring the RAID array using Dell OpenManage™ Array
Manager, the CERC BIOS Configuration Utility, or the WebBIOS Configuration Utility. If a hard
drive fails and you have not designated any drives as hot spares, you must shut down the system,
replace the failed IDE drive, restart the system, and then use Dell OpenManage Array Manager, the
CERC BIOS Configuration Utility, or the WebBIOS Configuration Utility to manually start the
drive rebuild process. The replacement drive is listed as "failed" in the utility until the rebuild
process is completed.

System Setup Program

System Setup Program Navigation
To cycle through the possible values of a user-definable option in the System Setup program,
highlight the option and press the space bar, <+>, or <–>.

Using the System Password Feature

The default setting for the system password jumper is "installed" (password feature enabled). You
do not need to change this default jumper setting unless you need to clear a forgotten password. To
create a password using the System Setup program, see "Using the System Password Feature" in
your User’s Guide.
To change a setting in the system password or setup password fields, highlight the option and press
the space bar, <+>, or <–>. To escape from either password field without changing the current
setting, press <Esc>. To implement the new password value, save the settings and exit the
program. The new password setting is implemented after the system automatically reboots.

Red Hat Linux 操作系统

SCSI 控制器 “SCSI 错误报告”
如果 SCSI 设备没有对控制器发出的 SCSI 命令作出 “状态良好”回应，则某些与该设备相
关的情况可能会导致系统的集成 SCSI 控制器显示 “SCSI 错误报告”。例如，从磁带驱动
器中弹出磁带可能会导致生成 SCSI 错误报告，因为磁带驱动器的内容在控制器上次与磁
带驱动器进行通信之后已发生更改。这些 SCSI 错误报告并不表示系统存在问题，也不需
要作出回应。如果 SCSI 设备确实出现问题，操作系统将发出一则错误信息。

Windows 操作系统

Message d'erreur “SCSI Error Report” du contrôleur SCSI
Dans certaines situations, le contrôleur SCSI intégré peut afficher le message “SCSI Error Report”
lorsqu'un périphérique SCSI ne renvoie pas un “good status” en réponse à une commande du
contrôleur. Par exemple, l'éjection d'une bande d'un lecteur peut générer un message d'erreur SCSI
car le contenu du lecteur a changé depuis sa dernière communication avec le contrôleur. Ces
messages d'erreur SCSI ne signalent pas un problème lié au système et ne nécessitent pas de réponse.
En cas de problème réel avec le périphérique SCSI, le système d'exploitation envoie un message
d'erreur.

Système d'exploitation Windows

Si votre système comporte des options de disques durs SCSI connectables à chaud, et si vous décidez
de réinstaller le Windows 2000 Server, Advanced Server ou SBS sans utiliser le CD Dell OpenManage
Server Assistant fourni avec le système, une icône d'avertissement (un point d'exclamation jaune)
s'affiche en regard de l'entrée SDR GEM318P SCSI Processor Device dans le Gestionnaire de

Pour activer la fonction de reconstitution automatique de disques du contrôleur CERC RAID, vous
devez désigner un ou plusieurs disques comme hot spare (disque de secours) lors de la configuration
du module RAID, à l'aide de Dell OpenManage™ Array Manager, de l'utilitaire de configuration
CERC BIOS ou de l'utilitaire de configuration WebBIOS. En cas de panne d'un disque dur, si vous
n'avez pas désigné de disques de secours, vous devrez arrêter le système, remplacer le disque dur IDE
défaillant, redémarrer le système, puis utiliser Dell OpenManage Array Manager, l'utilitaire de
configuration CERC BIOS ou l'utilitaire de configuration WebBIOS pour démarrer manuellement le
processus de reconstitution du disque. Le disque de remplacement est associé à la mention “failed”
(en panne) dans l'utilitaire, tant que la reconstitution n'est pas terminée.

Programme System Setup

Navigation dans le programme System Setup
Pour faire défiler les valeurs possibles d'une option dans le programme System Setup, mettez l'option

Utilisation de la fonction de mot de passe du système

Par défaut, le cavalier du mot de passe système est installé (la fonction de mot de passe est activée).
Vous n'avez pas besoin de modifier ce réglage, sauf pour effacer un mot de passe oublié. Pour créer un
mot de passe avec le programme System Setup, reportez-vous à la section “Utilisation de la fonction

Pour modifier la valeur des champs de mot de passe système ou de configuration, mettez l'option en
surbrillance et appuyez sur la barre d'espace, le <+> ou le <–>. Pour quitter un champ du mot de
passe sans en modifier le paramètre, appuyez sur la touche <Échap>. Pour appliquer le nouveau mot
de passe, enregistrez vos paramètres et quittez le programme. Le nouveau mot de passe est appliqué
après le redémarrage automatique du système.

Zur Zeit gelten für die DRAC III/XT folgende Konfigurationsbeschränkungen:

Systemspeicher
Wenn Sie zusätzlichen Speicher hinzufügen, installieren Sie die Speichermodule ihrer Größe nach in
absteigender Reihenfolge, beginnend mit dem äußeren Steckplatz auf der Systemplatine. Lassen Sie
zwischen den installierten Speichermodulen keinen Steckplatz leer. Hinweise zur Installation von
zusätzlichem Speicher finden Sie unter „Installieren von Systemoptionen“ in der Anleitung zur
Installation und Fehlersuche.

Betriebssystem Red Hat Linux

„SCSI Error Report“ des SCSI-Controllers
Bestimmte auf SCSI-Geräte bezogene Situationen können dazu führen, dass der integrierte SCSI-
Controller des Systems einen „SCSI Error Report“ anzeigt, wenn das Gerät als Antwort auf einen SCSI-
Befehl vom Controller nicht „good status“ zurückmeldet. So könnte zum Beispiel durch das Auswerfen
eines Bands aus einem Bandlaufwerk ein SCSI-Fehlerbericht gemeldet werden, weil sich der Inhalt des
Bandlaufwerks geändert hat, seit der Controller zuletzt mit dem Bandlaufwerk kommuniziert hat. Diese
SCSI-Fehlerberichte zeigen keinen Fehler des Systems an, es ist keine Reaktion erforderlich. Falls
tatsächlich ein Problem mit dem SCSI-Gerät vorliegt, zeigt das Betriebssystem eine Fehlermeldung an.

Betriebssystem Windows
Wenn Ihr System optionale Hot-Plug SCSI-Festplatten enthält und Sie versuchen, das Betriebssystem
Windows 2000 Server, Advanced Server oder SBS ohne die mit Ihrem System gelieferte Dell
OpenManage Server Assistant-CD neu zu installieren, wird möglicherweise im Geräte-Manager neben
dem Eintrag SDR GEM318P SCSI-Prozess ein gelbes Ausrufezeichen angezeigt. Auch wenn dieses

Um die automatische Laufwerks-Neuaufbaufunktion des CERC RAID-Controllers zu aktivieren,
müssen Sie bei der Konfigurierung des RAID-Gespanns ein oder mehrere Festplatten als Ersatzlaufwerk
konfigurieren. Verwenden Sie dazu entweder den Dell OpenManage™ Array Manager, das Konfigura-
tions-Dienstprogramm CERC BIOS oder das Konfigurationsprogramm WebBIOS. Wenn eine
Festplatte ausfällt und Sie kein Laufwerk als Ersatzlaufwerk bezeichnet haben, müssen Sie das System
herunterfahren, das ausgefallene IDE-Laufwerk austauschen, das System neu starten und dann das
Laufwerk manuell mit dem Dell OpenManage Array Manager oder dem Konfigurations-Dienstpro-
gramm CERC BIOS bzw. WebBIOS neu aufbauen. Das Ersatzlaufwerk wird im Dienstprogramm als
„failed“ aufgelistet, bis der Neuaufbau abgeschlossen ist.

Navigation im System-Setup-Programm

Verwendung der System-Passwortfunktion

Die Standardeinstellung für den Jumper des System-Passworts ist „installed“ (Passwortfunktion
aktiviert). Sie brauchen die Jumper-Standardeinstellung nicht zu verändern, es sei denn, Sie müssen
ein vergessenes Passwort löschen. Weitere Informationen zum Erstellen eines Passworts mit dem
System-Setup-Programm finden Sie in der Bedienungsanleitung unter „Verwendung der System-
Passwortfunktion“.
Um eine Einstellung in den Feldern für das System-Passwort oder Setup-Passwort zu ändern, markieren
Sie die Option und drücken Sie auf die Leertaste, die Taste <+> oder <–>. Um die einzelnen
Passwortfelder zu verlassen, ohne die aktuelle Einstellung zu verändern, drücken Sie auf <Esc>. Um
das neue Passwort zu implementieren, speichern Sie die Einstellungen und beenden Sie das Programm.

Broadcom モデムカードの取り付け
システムに Broadcom BCM V.92 56K モデムカードを取り付ける場合は、モデムカードを 64 ビッ

DRAC III/XT の構成には、以下の制限があります。

Red Hat Linux オペレーティングシステム

SCSI コントローラの「SCSI エラーレポート」
ある特定の SCSI デバイスが関連する状況で、コントローラが実行した SCSI コマンドへの応答時に
デバイスから「正常なステータス」が返されない場合、システムの内蔵 SCSI コントローラにより
「SCSI エラーレポート」が表示されることがあります。たとえば、テープドライブからテープを取
り出すときにエラーレポートが生成されることがありますが、これは最後にコントローラがテープ
ドライブと通信してから、テープドライブの内容が変更されたからです。これらの SCSI エラーレ
ポートは、システムに問題があることを示すものではなく、応答が要求されません。SCSI デバイス
に関する実際の問題が発生した場合は、オペレーティングシステムによってエラーメッセージが表
示されます。

Windows オペレーティングシステム
システムにオプションのホットプラグ SCSI ハードドライブが搭載されている場合、システム付属
の『Dell OpenManage Server Assistant CD』を使用せずに Windows 2000 Server、Advanced
Server、SBS のうちいずれかのオペレーティングシステムの再インストールを実行しようとする
と、デバイス マネージャの SDR GEM318P SCSI Processor Device という項目の横に黄色い感
嘆符の警告アイコンが表示されます。このアイコンが表示されていても、SCSI デバイスの機能には
影響ありません。このアイコンが表示されないようにするには、デルのサポート Web サイト
support.jp.dell.com から GEM318P デバイスドライバをダウンロードします。
CERC RAID コントローラ
CERC RAID コントローラの自動ドライブ再構築機能を有効にするには、Dell OpenManage™
Array Manager、CERC BIOS Configuration Utility、または WebBIOS Configuration Utility のう

システムパスワードフィールドまたはセットアップパスワードフィールドの設定を変更するには、
目的のオプションをハイライト表示してスペースキー、<+>、<-> のいずれかを押します。現在の
設定を変更せずに、いずれかのパスワードフィールドの設定を終了するには、<Esc> を押します。
新しいパスワードの値を有効にするには、設定内容を保存してプログラムを終了します。システム
が自動的に再起動され、新しいパスワード設定が有効になります。

Microprocesador

• La DRAC III/XT no es compatible con sistemas que disponen de discos duros IDE.
• La NIC DRAC III/XT admite negociación automática a una velocidad LAN de 10 Base-T

Memoria del sistema

“Informe de errores SCSI” de la controladora SCSI
Determinadas situaciones relacionadas con el dispositivo SCSI pueden hacer que la controladora SCSI
integrada del sistema muestre un informe de errores SCSI (SCSI Error Report) cuando el dispositivo
no devuelve un “estado correcto” en respuesta a un comando SCSI procedente de la controladora. Por
ejemplo, al extraer una cinta de la unidad de cinta se puede generar un informe de errores SCSI debido a
que el contenido de la unidad de cinta ha cambiado desde la última vez que la controladora se comunicó
con dicha unidad. Estos informes de errores SCSI no indican un problema con el sistema y no requieren
una respuesta. En el caso de que ocurra un problema real con el dispositivo SCSI, el sistema operativo
mostrará un mensaje de error.

Sistema operativo Windows

Si el sistema incluye unidades de disco duro SCSI de conexión en marcha opcionales y desea reinstalar
el sistema operativo Windows 2000 Server, Advanced Server o SBS sin utilizar el CD Dell OpenManage
Server Assistant que se entrega con el sistema, es posible que aparezca un icono de advertencia (signo
de exclamación amarillo) junto a la entrada SDR GEM318P SCSI Processor Device del Administrador
de dispositivos. La aparición de este icono no afecta a la funcionalidad del dispositivo SCSI. Para evitar

Para activar la función de reconstrucción automática de unidad de la controladora CERC RAID, deberá
designar una o varias unidades de disco duro como repuesto en marcha al configurar la matriz RAID
mediante Dell OpenManage™ Array Manager, la utilidad de configuración del BIOS de CERC o la
utilidad de configuración de WebBIOS. Si una unidad de disco duro falla y no ha designado ninguna
otra unidad como repuesto en marcha, apague el sistema, sustituya la unidad IDE en la que se ha
producido el fallo, reinicie el sistema y utilice Dell OpenManage Array Manager, la utilidad de
configuración del BIOS de CERC o la utilidad de configuración de WebBIOS para iniciar manualmente
el proceso de reconstrucción de la unidad. La unidad sustituida aparece como “failed” (con error) en la
utilidad hasta que se haya completado el proceso de reconstrucción.

Para desplazarse por los valores disponibles de una opción definible por el usuario en el programa de
configuración del sistema, seleccione la opción y pulse la barra espaciadora o las teclas <+> o <–>.

Uso de la función de contraseña del sistema

El valor predeterminado para el puente de contraseña del sistema es “installed” (instalada), lo
que significa que la función de contraseña está activada. No es preciso que cambie este valor
predeterminado, a menos que necesite borrar una contraseña olvidada. Para crear una contraseña
mediante el programa de configuración del sistema, consulte el apartado relativo al uso de la función
de contraseña del sistema en la Guía del usuario.
Para cambiar un valor en los campos de contraseña del sistema o contraseña de configuración, seleccione
la opción y pulse la barra espaciadora o las teclas <+> o <–>. Para salir de cualquier campo de
contraseña sin cambiar el valor actual, pulse la tecla <Esc>. Para implementar el nuevo valor de
contraseña, guarde la configuración y salga del programa. El nuevo valor de contraseña se implementará
cuando el sistema se reinicie automáticamente.
