70bmm

It all started with a handful of TYBMM students sipping

coffee outside Rizvi College, Bandra [W] who came up with an idea of a
BMM specific festival with the name of 70bmm. The ideology behind
the name was to merge70mm which is a basic reel size and is a symbol
of media with BMM (Bachelor of Mass Media). The collaboration thus
denoting “70bmm”.
Since, there are 70 colleges in Mumbai offering BMM courses
the name looked even more vibrant and BMM friendly. Looking up to
the name the theme selected for the festival was 1970’s Bollywood era.
With all the planning & thinking process done with, it was
time to get it on paper and finalize the dates & events along with the
judges. But like all Hindi masala movies there was a twist in the tale..

DHAN TE NAN…
The dates which were finalized were 23rd & 24th of February.
We had reached the 11th of that month. To our worst nightmare, we got
the news that the fest cannot take place since the board exams of the
SYJC were scheduled to start on the 22nd February. The festival could
not be postponed further.
We were in dire straights & were waiting for some miracle
to happen. But as I have learned from my 3 years experience in BMM is
“BMM students don’t wait for to happen, they make it happen”.
So, we came up with the idea of preponing the festival to the
th
18 of February, just a one day festival, which was effectively just 6
days away--- A challenge for any Mass Media student---We accepted the
challenge. We planned 15 events in one day, adjusted the timings and
made sure everything was smooth.

Incredibly, our fest was just like a Hindi Masala Movie.

While the Hero was the 70bmm crew who fell in love with the Heroine,
who was the 70bmm festival itself.
The Hero wanted to attain the Heroine but there were two
villains who interfeared in between the SYJC Board Exams and the
Sponsors. It all ended well with the pair uniting and bonding well.
