Indicative U-values of suspended concrete ground floors insulated with Beamshield Plus
U-values as low as 0.10 can be achieved with increased thickness of Beamshield Plus
THERMAL PERFORMANCE
Approved Documents and Technical Standards specify U-value calculation for floors must be carried out to the
method detailed in BS EN 13370:1998 for exposed floors.
To calculate the U-value of a ground floor it is necessary to first calculate the exposed perimeter to area of the floor.
This is known as the P/A Ratio.
The U Value Table above shows the U-values achieved using Springvale Beamshield Plus for both T60 (for use with
a 150mm-155mm T Beam) and T80 (for use with a 175mm T Beam) T Beam ground floor systems.
The U-values achieved are ideal as a base for compliance by either the Target Uvalue or the Carbon Index
methods and easily meet the maximum permissible Uvalue of 0.7 W/m2K. Larger floors may also comply under
the Elemental method.
If you require specific floor P/A ratios calculated or assistance with compliance by Target U-value or
Carbon Index methods of compliance, please contact our Technical Advisory Service on 0845 7697452.
