About Hari Vayu Stuti:

Hari Vayu Stuti is a prayer written in Sanskrit language by Trivikram Panditacharya in praise of
Lord Hari and Vayu.

About Lord Hari:

Hari, the supreme and the only controller of the entire universe, is also popularly known by other
names such as Vishnu and Narayan. The tales of Vishnu, protecting the good and destroying the
evil, are abundantly described mainly through his ten incarnations of:
1. Fish (Hari in the form of a giant fish during end of a world’s life-cycle, about 1,733,000
years ago)
2. Turtle (Hari as a giant turtle supporting a mountain on this back, helping gods and demons
to churn the sea, about 1,730,000 – 1,300,000 years ago)
3. Boar (Hari with a boar-face to kill a demon, about 1,730,000 – 1,300,000 years ago)
4. Lion (Hari with a lion-face to kill a demon, about 1,730,000 – 1,300,000 years ago)
5. Vaman (Hari as a small boy to destroy ego of a king, about 1,730,000 – 1,300,000 years
ago)
6. Parashuram (Hari as a warrior destroying evil kings around the world, about 1,300,000
years ago)
7. Rama (Hari as a noble prince killing an evil king who abducted his wife, , about 1,730,000
– 1,000,000 years ago)
8. Krishna (Hari as a cowherd boy and king killing many demons and evil kings, about 5000
years back)
9. Buddha (Hari as a philosopher and preacher, about 2500 years ago)
10. Kalki (Hari as a horse-riding king destroying all evils on earth, to happen in future, about
426,000 years later)

Among these incarnations, Rama and Krishna are the most popular and most worshipped
throughout the world.
Other than these ten, there are other incarnations of Hari. One of them is Veda Vyasa who
authored many books including Mahabharata, the world’s largest epic-to-date and Bhagavata.

About Vaayu:
Vaayu is known to be the most powerful of all gods, with clear knowledge of and complete
devotion towards Hari. As a service to Hari, Vaayu performs breathing in all the living beings and
energizes them. He is said to have taken three incarnations to serve Lord Hari and propagate the
right knowledge. The three incarnations are:
1. Hanuman: During Rama incarnation of Hari, Vaayu was born as Hanuman,
son of Kesari and Anjana. He served Rama with utmost devotion by
locating Sita in Sri Lanka and fighting the war against the evil king, Ravana.
Hanuman is also one of the most popular and the most worshipped gods.
2. Bhima: This is the second incarnation of Vaayu, during Krishna incarnation
of Hari. Bhima was the strongest of all (after Krishna) in Mahabharata story.
He killed many demons like Hidimba, Bakasura Jarasandha and Kichaka.
Beside destroying more than half of the army, He also killed all 100 Kaurava
brothers in the Mahabharata war.
3. Madhwa: In this third incarnation, Vaayu is born as a saint to refute the
misinterpretations of spiritual texts and reassure the supremacy of Lord Hari.
With blessings-in-person by Veda Vyasa, another incarnation of Hari, he
revived the path of devotion. Literary works composed by him provide
scientific approach, reasoning and citations from various authentic sources.

Sri Madhva, the founder of the Dvaita Philosophy of Hinduism , was born in a
small village Paajaka kshetra, near the present day Udipi in Karnataka state. He
was initiated into the sanyaas ashram at a very young As was the norm
in those days, his birth name Vasudevacharya was changed to
Poomapragyna and then Anandatirtha. During his stay
in the and after his completion of the compulsory ashramic life, Sri
Anandatirtha was busy laying the foundations of a philosophy which was
different from the ones being then, the most popular being the Advaita
philosophy. He is best described in these modern times as a research
scholar, who delved into the most difficult of the actual vedic texts and
made a simple analysis of the philosophy, which we now call as Dwaita
Philosophy. The entire dwaita philosophy rests on the’differentiation
between Sri Han and Vayu, being called as Sarvottama and Vayu This
philosophy is simple yet complex. The relationship between the two is separate yet conjoined.
 Sri defended very successfully in debates and orations at various forums, in an effort to
convince, establish and spread the foundations of the Dwaita philosophy, among the religious
‘leaders and people. One of the very influential and respected followers of Advaita phiiososphy,
Trivikrama Panditacharya of present day Kasargod in Kerala state, challenged Sri Anandatirtha
for a debate. The fortnight continuous debate finally saw Sri Trivikrama Panditacharya accepting
defeat and becoming an ardent convert to the Dwaita philosophy, the process, he also became
one of the most favorite students of Sri Anandtirtha, now begun to be called Sri Madhvacharya.
Sri Madhvacharya is credited with the writing of the Dwadasha which extolis the various
virtues and avatars of Sri Han or Vishnu. One day, during the daily recitation of the Dwadasha
stotra, Sri suddenly went inside his room indicating that he should not be disturbed. Finding this
strange, Trivikrarna Panditacharya, in the through the open window. He was shocked when he
saw Hanuman worshipping Sri Bheemasena worshipping Sri Krishna and Madhvacharya
worshipping Sri Veda Vyasa. Filled with trepidation, confusion, happiness, surprise, he quickly
wrote a poem which he called Vayu stuti and presented it to Sri Madhvacharya. While not
accepting the poem in its present form as it only his avatars, Sri Madhvacharya added two
slokas (Nakha stuti) to the beginning and at the end of the Vayu stuti and called it as Sri
HariVayu Stuthi. Nakha Stuti describes one of the avatars of Narasimha. The two slokas
describing the power in

each sioka of Sri Hari Vayu Stuti, called Phala Stuti.
While it had become common knowledge that Sri ~Madhvacharya had possessed
superhuman qualities, since his birth, it was only after Sri Trivikrama Panditacharya’s discovery
and with the writing of Vayu stuthi, that Sri Madhvacharya was recognized as the third avatar of
Vayu in Hanuman of Tretayuga and Bheemsena and ‘the very beginning of
The Hari Vayu Stuti comprises 8 The two siokas of Nakha Stuti, prefixing the Vayu stuti
beginning with (6 followed by Mooia vayustuti (IO slokas), Hanumantha (5 siokas), Bheemasena
(7 siokas) and Madhwa (12 slokas) ending with one sioka of Phala shruti. This whole Vayu stuti is
suffixed by the two siokas of Nakha Stuti.
