BETHLEHEM STRUCTURAL SHAPES SIMPLIFIED LIST OF STRUCTURAL STEEL SHAPES EFFECTIVE FROM FEBRUARY 1, 1942 $-52a This booklet should be inserted in Catalog S-51 entitled, “Bethlehem Structural Shapes’’ BETHLEHEM STEEL COMPANY rms General Offices: [3#eAl] BETHLEHEM, PA. —— Copyright 1942, Bethlehem Steel Company. BETHLEHEM STEEL COMPANY This booklet lists Structural Sections that will be rolled by Bethlehem Steel Company after February 1, 1942, in accordance with the letter which follows issued by the: OFFICE OF PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT, SociaL SEcuRITY BUILDING Wasuincton, D. C. October 22, 1941 Bethlehem Steel Company Bethlehem, Pennsylvania Attention: Mr. Otto Gminder, Manager of Sales, Structural Division Subject: SIMPLIFICATION OF STRUCTURAL STEEL SHAPES Gentlemen: In the interest of maximim steel mill production and the conservation of the available steel supply, as well as looking forward toward the most effective output during the emergency period, it seems advisable and necessary to eliminate the non-essential and unnecessary structural shapes now offered by the various steel-producing units for use in various types of construction projects. Effective from February 1, 1942, you are, therefore, requested to roll only the attached simplified list of sections, as indicated on the three sheets headed ‘‘Simpli- fication of Structural Steel Shapes.” This. provides a transitional period in which Producers may move into consumption those shapes which have been eliminated by this simplification program. It will, therefore, be the responsibility of each producer of structural shapes to notify their trade that on the above mentioned date only the simplified list of sections will be available to them. It is suggested that in so notifying your trade you include not only your list of normal customers of structural shapes, but also architects, engi- neers, and so far as possible, individuals in any way involved with structural designs. ~ In sending out this notification it may be in the most convenient form, but perhaps a leaflet or pamphlet of a convenient size for filing, draft use, etc., approximating the existing structural manuals may be the proper form to adopt. Very truly yours, (Signed) A. D. WiiTEsipe A. D, Whiteside, Chief, Tron and Steel Section. BETHLEHEM STEEL COMPANY IMPORTANT NOTICE Simplification of Structural Steel Shapes Effective for Production from February 1, 1942 This booklet shows the sections with their weights or thick- nesses which will be the only sections available from rollings after February 1, 1942, Certain sections, as well as certain weights or thicknesses of other sections as heretofore published in our Catalog S-51 and not shown in this booklet, will no longer be available from rollings after February 1, 1942. It is suggested that you compare the information on sections herein with your copy of our Catalog S-51 and make the necessary changes in your copy of that catalog. Prevailing mill conditions are such that we feel it is doubtful if the sections no longer available after February 1, 1942 will be available on new business from rollings before February 1, 1942, It will, therefore, be a great convenience if orders placed hereafter and if plans to be submitted for bids will include only the sections available after February 1, 1942, November 15, 1941 BETHLEHEM STEEL COMPANY BETHLEHEM STEEL COMPANY Structural Sections Rolled after February 1, 1942 Alsc.
