Hoof it

It’s a bull market in Madrid, and you’ve got to be ready to rise to the occasion. Attending a live
bull fight is about as arousing as it can get.

First, look on as two horseback lancers, picadores, march into the ring to rile up the bull. These
opening men goad the raging Taurus into attacking their protected horse and then strike the bull
for the first time of the afternoon.

Next, be prepared to sit at the edge of your seat while the charming bull fighter, matador,
relentlessly taunts the bull into charging him again and again. Listen to the crowd go wild each
time the matador escapes within inches of the bull’s perilous horns.

Bull fighting is dangerous.

Intense.
Graceful.
Vigorous.

It is the preservation of tradition that people have come far and wide to see at Las Ventas for the
past 75 years.

If you haven’t enjoyed a bull fight yet, it’s time you get your hoofs wet.
