thatyou installto an em pty folder.Ifyou wantto acceptthesuggested
location,click N ext and go on to step 8.To selectortypein a different
installation location,click B ro w se.In the Choose Folderdialog box,
browse to an existing folder or type a new folder nam e and click O K ;
the com bined path nam e and foldernam e can be up to 63 characters.
Ifyou typed a new foldernam eand you need theinstallerto createthe
folder,click Yes in the Setup m essagebox.Back in theChoose
D estination Location dialog box,click N ext to continue.
8. The Setup Type dialog box opens.The two typesofinstallation are
Standard and Custom .Selectthe type ofinstallation appropriate for
you and click N ext (form oreinform ation,see Installation O ptionson
page 23).
A ttention: Ifyou installthe iKey driveron a W indow s XP com puterthat
lacks a USB port,serious problem s result.So ifyourcom puteris running
underW indow s XP and does nothave a USB port,be sure to use the
un e W in ow s XP an oes nothave a USB o t be su e to use the
Custom Install option so thatyou can exclude the iKey hardw are key
driverfrom yourinstallation.You also use Custom Installforpartial
installations (form ore inform ation,see Doing a PartialInstallation in
W indow s in Appendix 5,Installing Separate Com ponents and
Troubleshooting,in Preps_5-0_A ppendixes.pdf in the U serG uides
folderon yourPreps CD.
9. Ifyou do nothave D igiPath software on yourcom puter,go on to

step 10.Ifyou do have D igiPath software on yourcom puterand you
chose Standard Installation,a question box opens,asking ifyou want
to installsupportforD igiPath.Click Yes orN o.

15. A Setup Com plete m essage appearstelling you thatPrepsinstallation
iscom plete.Click O K .

Installing the H ardw are Key

The hardware key (dongle)isa copy-protection device thatplugsinto a
porton yourcom puter.Ifthe hardware key isnotinstalled orlosesits
program m ing,Prepscannotrun.
N ewercom putershave a U SB portthatacceptsthe iKey hardware key.
O ldercom putersaccepta parallelhardware key.Ifyou are a new Preps
custom er,you have received yourchoice ofa Sentinel® parallelhardware
key oran iKey U SB (U niversalSerialBus)hardware key with yourPreps
package.Ifyou are a Prepscustom erupgrading orupdating from a
previousreleaseofPreps,you already haveaSentinelparallelhardwarekey,
an Eve® 3 U SB hardwarekey,oran iKey U SB hardwarekey.You can
continue to use yourcurrenthardware key,oryou can pay an exchange fee
and switch to an iKey.In the Am ericas,call1-800-999-5539.In Europe,
Asia,Australia,N ew Zealand,and the M iddle East,contactyourlocal
resellerorCreo salesrepresentative.You can find yourlocalcontactby
visiting the Creo W eb site athttp://www2.creo.com /utilities/contact/M ain.asp.
Both the iKey and the Sentinelhardware key driverare installed
autom atically aspartofthe Prepsinstallation processunlessyou selectthe
Custom installation and om itthe iKey H ardw are Key D river and/orthe
SentinelH ardw are Key D river.IfyourW indowsN T com puterdoesnothave
a U SB port,you m ustnotinstallthe U SB driver.
The parallelhardware key isa “pass-through” device,so you can connect
anotherdevice to the parallelportby connecting the device to the
hardware key afterinstalling the parallelhardware key in the com puter
socket.

device to the U SB port,you can use a hub.

To installa parallelhardw are key:
1. Turn offyourcom puter. Thisstep isvery im portant.Ifthe com puteris
running when you connectordisconnecta parallelhardware key,the
hardware key m ay be dam aged.
2. U nplug any device currently connected to the parallelportyou want
to use.
3. Plug the m ale connectorofthe
hardware key (the connectorwith pins H ardw are Key
ratherthan sockets)into the port.

4. Tighten the attachm entscrewson both Printer C able
sidesofthe connector.
5. Reconnectany device thatwas

previously connected to the parallel
portby plugging itinto the fem ale connectorofthe hardware key and
tightening the attachm entscrewsinto the hardware key.
6. Turn on yourcom puter.
