Introduction
In compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, this annual training is for individuals dealing
with Confined Space Entry. There are four occupations to which confined space training applies. They are authorized entrant (people
who enter and work in confined spaces), safety attendant (the lifeline between an authorized entrant and rescue operations - normally
an industrial hygienist), supervisor, and emergency rescue teams.
The purpose of this training is to identify confined spaces, discuss work practices for injury prevention, discuss protective devices and
controls - all of which are essential to know before entry into a confined space. This training has been developed to ensure the safety
of personnel required to enter and conduct work in confined spaces. The program contained herein describes reasonable and necessary
policies and procedures for any and all facilities, industries, and individuals who are associated with confined space entry operations.
The following discusses each occupation (authorized entrant, safety attendant, supervisor, and emergency rescue teams) as it relates to
training and responsibilities.
