Titanium/steel July 2006 ∼ 1 Evaluation titanium to steel joint with
brazing Now different filler metals and procedures has been
finished. Now, I’m planning to investigate
two points only:
• Corrosion resistance of all joint. Many
experiments have been done in this regard
and the work scheduled to finish within 1
year (end of 2010).
• Titanium to steel joining using PVD
coating to apply filler metal.
Cu PVD coating: experiments performed,
investigation & analysis are being studied
now.
Ni PVD coating: experiments are being
Performed now.

Magnesium/steel January 2009 Many coating samples have been performed

brazing ∼ under different parameters. Some of the
Now samples were tested using copper coated layer
but the results were not satisfactory till now.

Several points are expected to improve the

joint quality as following:
• Employing ultrasonic technique to
perform the brazed joint. This task is now
under preparation and expected to start
within the coming Feb. 2010.
• Evaluation the joint by using different
coating layer such as nickel or aluminum.
This task is planed to start at the coming
May 2010.
• Brazing the joint in furnace under inert
atmosphere. This task is also planning to
start at the coming May 2010.

Some welding parameters were tested and

Stainless June 2009 ∼ evaluated. Preliminary study has also

welding promising. However, optimization of
parameters is still under investigation.

Several points are planed till now for this

joint.
• Direct joining stainless steel to
polymer by laser and polymer material is
upside.
• Direct joining stainless steel to
polymer by laser and polymer material is
 downside.
• Using coating layer to stainless steel
before joining.
• Using intermediate layer in between
stainless steel and polymer before joining.
This project is performed right now.
