NPA Victims Rally For Peace

Digos City, Davao del Sur- NPA victims’ family calls for human rights group
KARAPATAN to join their quest for Justice.

In connection with the 42nd Founding

Anniversary of the
communist/terrorist group New
Peoples Army on March 29, 2011, at
least 500 relatives of the victims of
NPA atrocities, former NPA rebels
and peace-loving citizens of Davao
del Sur gathered at Rizal Park in
Digos City, Davao del Sur for a
peace rally which aimed of letting the
public know that as the NPAs
celebrate, more and more people
mourn because of their terroristic
activities.

Mrs. Rosemarie Sal again asked, Nganung gipatay sa NPA ang akong bana?
(Why did the NPA kill my husband?), as she expressed her desperation on the
sad fate of his husband, Danny Sal, who was brutally killed point blank in front
of her by members of the NPA last February 26, 2011.
Unta muoban ang KARAPATAN sa among pagpangitag hustisya sa
kamatayon sa akong bana! (I hope the KARAPATAN will join us in our quest
for justice!), she added.
Danny Sal is one of the 30 victims of the latest CPP-NPA-NDF perpetrated
killing of innocent civilians from 2006 to date.
The peace rally started at around 9:30 am. A mother and two (2) wives of the
NPA victims were among the speakers crying for justice. Three (3) former NPA
rebels also gave their testimony about their miserable experience during their
stay in the communist movement. After which, no less than the well-known
leader of the Alsa Masa against the CPP-NPA-NDF in Davao in 1986, Hon.
Franco Calida, Municipal Mayor of Hagonoy, Davao Del Sur, gave his closing
remarks. He called the people of Davao del Sur to end their support with the
CPP-NPA-NDF in order to achieve lasting peace.
The activity culminated with the burning of a shirt, bearing the NPA symbol
hammer and sickle previously owned by an NPA rebel, as a symbol of the
people condemnation of the CPP-NPA-NDF terroristic acts for over 42 years
now.

The province of Davao del Sur had witnessed NPA perpetrated violence,
including killing of innocent civilians for years. The peace rally strongly showed
that what the people want is lasting peace and are asking the CPP-NPA-NDF to
heed and stop their atrocious activities that not only kill defenceless civilians but
also hampers peace and development.
