The

 E3  Project:  
Educate.  Engage.  Empower.  
Our  Mission:  To  advance  the  right  to  education  in  the  local  community  and  abroad  
by  working  to  educate,  engage  and  empower  globally  conscientious  Somerville  
high  school  students.  
 
Our  Method:  To  train  a  Tufts  University  student  corps  to  facilitate  lessons  on  
human  rights,  the  right  to  education  and  civic  engagement  skills  for  SHS  students.  
Tufts  students  would  earn  ½  credit  through  the  ex-­‐college  as  well!  
 
   
The E3 Program Goals: Through  these  three  processes,  we  want  students      
1. Facilitate exchange between university and to  become  confident  advocates  for  social  change!  
high school students to help them become
active agents of change and advocates for  
human rights in their communities
 
2. Inform students about the importance of
human rights, in particular the right to   Educa'on  
education, in their lives and around the world
 
3. Encourage students to reflect upon the value
of different types of education in their life and  
the lives of others
 
4. Identify and discuss marginalized populations
in society such as immigrant populations,  
women and children Empowerment   Engagement  
 
5. Use the non-profit organization Barakat and  
its work in South Asia as a lens to explore  
methods and organizations that strive to  
advance the right to education abroad  
 
6. Provide students with civic engagement skills
