Re: Waste tank counter reset code for Canon printers. by mastewart (6/17/05 12:

I have a Canon Multipass F60 showing the dreaded Check Printer message. I got a
copy of the service manual, did a set to see service codes and I get service cod
e 335 "Data transmission error between system control section and printer contro
l section." I had been pretty sure I was suffering from a waste tank counter res
et code situation but now I am not so sure. I did the counter reset procedure li
sted immediately above in this thread for an MPC 190 but it did not result in Ch
eck Printer going away. Must I conclude that there is something dreadfully wrong
at the board level and I must trash my belowed printer?

Well, I have a Canon S600. Tried the "generic waste tank reset" procedure severa
l times to no good effect. Result was the orange flashing 8 times light is still
doing that. AND the print speed dropped to like a minute for one page, printing
about 3 lines at a time with long pauses. I fixed that by going into Maintenanc
e, Custome Settings, and marking ECP mode. But it was all working fine before tr
ying to reset the waste tank error.
So, don't know what to do know. Looks like the waste tank error reset procedure
just DON'T WORK here.
Sorry about that, but that is what is going on.
Any suggestions welcome. (one I can think of right now is to throw the printer i
n the garbage and get a new non canon printer :-)

Before trashing your printer, you can call Canon Tech Support @ (800) 828-4040,
M-F 8a-12 midnight ET & Sat 10a-8p and explain your printer problem. Canon will.
..
1. give you an Authorized Service Facility name/phone number closest to where yo
u live.
2. also suggest going to www.canonloyalty.com. They'll give you a code (good for
2 weeks) to buy a new replacement Canon printer @ 10% off plus free overnite sh
ipping.
RE: Canon Multipass F60
I called the authorized service company given to me by Canon. They quoted approx
. $120 (for new printhead & Labor) + additional parts + Tax. Bit expensive, so I
tried various reset procedures to get rid of the "check printer" message withou
t any luck.
Also went to canonloyalty.com, entered the code given to me by Canon, selected a
printer and went to check out (without filling in my name/address/credit card i
nfo) and I didn't see 10% off nor $0 for shipping, which could be because I didn
't finish the checkout process. Spoke to Canon again and the rep said if there's
any problems purchasing (i.e., no free shipping), then call SALES @ (800) 385-2
155.
p.s. - I'm still hoping to get the waste ink counter reset code for a Multipass
F60. If I can't get the reset, I'll probably take my printer in for servicing (a
s it was a gift).
Mastewart,
We have the same printer. Where did you get the Service manual? All I have is th
e "Basic Guide" that came with the printer.
