WARD: FEMALE, PEDIA SURGICAL WARD

General Objective : After 3 months of exposure as nurse trainee at the Female, Pedia Surgical Ward, nurse trainees will be able to apply the correct KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDE, VALUES, AND SKILLS in rendering health care services as a beginning nurse trainee/ staff nurse. Specific Objectives : After 3 months of exposure as nurse trainee at the Female, Pedia Surgical Ward, the nurse trainees will be able to : 1. Know the different rules and polices of the ward during the orientation. 2. Identify different personnels in the area. 3. Received endorsement from previous shifts. 4. Perform bedside rounds together with staff nurses and perform initial assessment of patients 5. Conduct thorough assessment of assigned patients. 6. Formulate nursing care plans based on patients needs. 7. Perform bedside care, hygienic measures and gives health teaching to patients. 8. Identify correct dosage and action of medication based on patients drug study. 9. Document medications given. 10. Transcribe and carry out doctors order. 11. Implement nursing intervention based on Nursing Care Plan. 12. Demonstrates sound decision-making in care delivered. 13. Perform delegated task promptly, correctly, and safely. 14. Prepare the unit for possible admission and discharge. 15. Provide immediate care to newly admitted patients. 16. Prepare patients preoperatively and provide care post operatively. 17. Communicate with the health care team regarding patients needs. 18. Use therapeutic communication during interaction with patients and significant others. 19. Provide appropriate discharge teaching to patient/significant others based on the discharge plan. 20. Evaluate implemented Nursing Care Plan. 21. Establishes collaborative relationship with colleagues and other members of the health care team. 22. Appreciate the importance or rendering safe and prompt services to the patients.
