In today s problem
y In the Body Worlds exhibition, there were exhibits of

human bodies plastinated in various poses and dissected in various degrees. y Sam had difficulty describing the exhibits to his friends.

What you recognize?

y The human body can be positioned in different directions. y Each orientation of the body produces a different view. y There are various ways of cutting an organ, and each section

produces a different view.

What you can infer?

y There are specific terms to identify and describe the various

sections and planes of the body y These terms are needed in the effective communication of anatomical orientation of the body and location of its different organs

y Is there a fixed reference to describe the

various anatomical directions? y How were the human bodies dissected to produce different views?

y Described the anatomical orientation of the human

body

y 3 main sections: Saggital, Coronal, Transverse

y Communicated these anatomical orientation and

relative positions of the organ

y Important to identify anatomical orientation such as

anterior, posterior, superior, inferior.

y Differentiated between anatomical planes and sections

y The definitions of each anatomical section is important.

y Examined the organization of organs in the body

y The body is 3 dimensional, thus anatomical orientation is

important.
