UN-HABITAT Youth Programme:

Globally, 85 percent of the worlds young people live in developing countries. An increasing number of these young people are growing up in cities. Young people, and especially young girls and women, are the most vulnerable to social problems caused by unemployment and poverty. With more than 200 million youth living in poverty globally, there is a clear need to meaningfully engage and support youth growing up in todays rapidly urbanizing world.

Pakistans maternal and child mortality rates are the six highest in the world. Despite the Government of Pakistan (GoP) targeting improvements in maternal and child health over the last 15 years, maternal and neonatal mortality and morbidity remains significant challenges. An estimated 30,000 women die each year because of complications during pregnancy and delivery the equivalent of one woman dying every 20 minutes.
