Director Joseph S. Juniak For Immediate Release July 5, 2011 TRENTON POLICE RELEASE PHOTO OF AARON CARTER IN POSSESSION OF A HANDGUN PRIOR TO POLICE INVOLVED SHOOTING
The Trenton Police Department recovered area video surveillance that depicts Aaron Carter in possession of a handgun tucked in his waistband approximately 30 minutes prior to his encounter with the Trenton Police. On Saturday June 25th, 2011 Carter was observed in what was believed to be a narcotics transaction by TAC Detectives which resulted in Carter fleeing from the officers and raising a loaded handgun at the pursuing officer who fired his department issued weapon in self defense, striking Carter. Carter was found in possession of two loaded handguns, which were recovered at the scene. As with all uses of deadly force by police officers, the investigation is being reviewed by the Trenton Police Internal Affairs Unit, Trenton Police Criminal Investigation Bureau and the Mercer County Prosecutors Office.
