Detailed Project Report Salients & Premises


The Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Bengaluru Commuter Rail is to be based on the following premises: - The Commuter rail system will initially be operated with infrastructure that will be augmented & shared between South Western Railways & Bengaluru Commuter Rail Authority (SPV that is proposed to operate the suburban rail system); & subsequently - The Commuter rail system is to be operated with dedicated infrastructure that will be built new for exclusive operation of trains by Bengaluru Commuter Rail Authority.

RITES Project Report Key Requirements


The planned RITES project report on introducing Bengaluru Commuter Rail in its immediate and near term must include & address the following: 1) Train services to the 5 identified suburban destination towns shall be planned to run: a. Destination towns being Tumkur/Nelamangala, Doddaballpur, Anekal/Housur, Bangarpet and Ramanagarm b. Peak Hour service at 30 minutes frequency in each direction c. Peak Hours service between 6 am to 10 am, and 5 pm to 9 pm in each direction. d. Non-Peak hours service at not more than 1 hour frequency between 10 am to 5 pm and 9 pm to 12 pm. 2) Extending the Bangarpet Yeshwantpur seqment to Ramanagaram 3) Dedicated specialized service catering to traffic going towards BIAL from Yeshwantpur and Benniganahalli a. Peak hour service running at 20 minutes frequency service during Peak Hours b. Peak Hours define for this segment as 5 AM to 11 AM and 4 PM to 12 PM. c. Non-Peak hours to be not more than 60 minutes d. Running special Air-conditioned DEMU Coaches/Rakes e. Building a model commuter rail station at BIA vicinity with FREE shuttle service to BIAL terminal and back f. Provision of shuttle service from Devanahalli station to BIAL terminal and back 4) Adequate number of DEMU rakes to support the above services: a. Planning for optimum number of rakes for all 6 segments covering both Peak and Non-Peak hours b. Rakes which addresses safety of passengers including automatic doors, mobility of passengers with disabilities, cyclists, baby strollers, passengers with luggage, quick movement both into the train & inside it & appropriate seating for long distance travel. c. Parking and Maintenance Bays for DEMU rakes
