Outline Thesis: During the holocaust the Nazis performed medical experiments on Jewish people

without their consent. These experiments were inhumane and conducted without any sort of respect for medical ethics. I. There were several types of experiments that Nazi doctors performed, and not all of them were inherently evil. The manner in which the Nazis chose to conduct their experiments made them evil. a. They performed several different experiments on a wide variety of people. b. Twins and people with abnormalities were always singled out, especially by Josef Mengele. c. German citizens were also abused by Nazi medical professionals. Over 200,000 were sterilized for having supposedly defective genes. Many Germans with mental and physical disabilities were murdered as part of the German euthanasia program. II. The people that carried out these experiments were trained Nazi medical doctors. a. There were several SS doctors that were notorious for their research methods and specific interests.

Thomas b. Not all people assisting with the experiments were Nazis. There were several people selected for slave labor in the hospitals. III.

There are over seven thousand documented cases of Nazi medical experimentation on unwilling participants. The experiments were inhumane and showed the Nazis complete lack of human compassion. a. The experiments were scientific in nature and funded by many well known companies, most prominently Bayer. b. The few survivors of experimentation were usually left with debilitating injuries both physical and mental.

IV.

Nazi doctors and medical officials that did not escape or commit suicide were tried in the Nuremberg Trials. a. Several doctors were sentenced to death or prison. b. Seen as birthplace of modern international law. c. First time criminals were tried before an international tribunal.
