What is HalfLytely and Bisacodyl?

HalfLytely and Bisacodyl is a laxative that stimulates bowel movements. This medication also contains potassium, sodium, and other minerals to replace electrolytes that are passed from the body in the stool. HalfLytely and Bisacodyl is used to clean the bowel before colonoscopy or other intestinal procedure. Phospho soda is an over the counter saline laxative formerly produced by the C.B. Fleet Company in Lynchburg, Va.[1] Phospho soda consisted mostly of monobasic sodium phosphate monohydrate and dibasic sodium phosphate heptahydrate. Phospho soda was often taken in a double dose or 2 45mL doses to prepare for colonoscopy. An amount of Phospho soda (normally 1.5fluid ounce or 45 ml) is usually mixed with water or other clear liquids such as ginger ale.
