METRIC SCALE: This is another scale used in Europe with one size equal to 1 cm.

English SCALE: Starts with Child's size "0" representing a shoe insole length of 4", each full size interval is 1/3", or 8.4mm. The English size scale is divided into (1) a Children's size ranging from "0" to "13" (4"-81/2") and (2) an Adult's scale ranging from "1" to "12" (82/3"-121/3"). Half sizes are usually made.

AMERICAN SCALE: Starts with Child's size "0" representing a shoe insole length of 311/12", each size interval is 1/3" similar to the English size stick: each size is therefore 1/12" shorter than its English equivalent. Half sizes are made.

FRENCH SCALE: This continental size unit is equal to 6.6mm. The size scale begins at 0cm. and continues without a break up to the largest sizes. Half sizes are generally not made.

JAPANESE SCALE: Used exclusively by Japanese footwear export trade. Each size equals 24mm 1/4 and 1/2 sizes are made. Size 9 is equal to 81/2 inches.
