REPORTERS: PANGANIBAN, Don BALMEO, Glenard SALBANG, Greg

What is Rock?? Rock is a naturally occurring solid aggregate of minerals and/or mineraloids.

ROCK CAN BE
MONOMINERALIC ROCK A rock consisting largely of single mineral.
Limestone toh

ORGANIC MATTER An animal or vegetable product.

COAL toh

NATURAL GLASS A vitreous rock that is nearly homogenous but not having a composition that can be expressed by a chemical formula.

AGGREGATE OF TWO OR MORE MINERALS

TYPE OF ROCKS
SEDIMENTARY IGNEOUS METAMORPHIC

SEDIMENTARY ROCKS
Rocks formed at the surface of the earth (mostly underwater) from accumulations of any material derived from disintegration, weathering and erosion of older ROCKS which can be Igneous, Metamorphic or Sedimentary itself.

SEDIMENTARY MATERIAL:

Precipitate
Chemical Organic

Sediment or Solid fragments

PRECIPITATES
CHEMICAL ORGANIC

HOW THESE ROCKS ARE FORMED??? Compaction or ConsolidationMostly due to pressure or Weight overlying sediments that makes the water or liquid material squeeze out. Cementation- Gluing or Sticking together of grains.

How coal was formed??

 Recrystallization
Development of more stable minerals from less stable minerals. Diagenesis Refers to all the chemical, physical, and biological changes undergone by a sediment after its initial deposition and during and after its lithification, exclusive of surface alteration such as weathering.
