TO OBSERVE THE CHARACTERISTICS OF INDUCTION MOTOR IN DELTA CONNECTION Apparatus : Three phase induction motor, connecting leads, voltmeter, ammeter. Three Phase Delta Connection : The phase voltages in delta connection are given by:
Vab = V < 0 0 Vbc = V < 120 0 Vca = V < 240 0

The phase currents are given by:

I ab = I < 0 0 I bc = I < 120 0 I ca = I < 240 0

In case of delta connection the line to line and phase voltages are same.i.e
V LL =V

And the line current and phase currents are related as:
I L = 3I

Induction Motor:
The ac induction motor is also called rotating transformer & singley excited machine.

The only difference between induction motor & transformer is that of output voltage frequency.
In induction motor, output frequency depends upon slip.

The transfer of energy from stator to rotor is by means of electromagnetic induction.

The rotating field produced by stator induces an alternating current and voltage in the rotor. The resulting interaction of induced rotor current with the rotating field of stationary winding

produces motor torque. OBSERVATION & CALCULATIONS:

TO OBSERVE THE CHARACTERISTICS OF INDUCTION MOTOR IN DELTA CONNECTION USING COMPUTER SOFTWARE

The theory and procedure are same as before. The only difference is that the motor is interfaced with a computer & using software, the characteristics of induction motor are observed through graph. The motor is run in application mode. SOFTWARE USED: The softawre used is named as ASMA. GRAPH:
